Here's a pretty cool Disney compilation album set I recently bought off eBay. The twist is though, this record set is NOT from Disney Records, but from Ovation Records! It's "The Magical Music of Walt Disney," released in 1978 for Mickey's 50th birthday. Disney still had a big hand in putting together the compilation, though, and in an ironic twist, it's a lot better than the compilations Disney's own record division was doing at the time. It consists of four LP albums, and contains soundtrack excerpts and songs from many pre-1978 Disney productions, even a compilation track of Mickey's attempts at conducting music (such as "The Band Concert" and "Symphony Hour"), AND the complete songs from Disney's "The Rescuers!" When the movie came out in 1977, Disney only released short excerpts of the songs on their Storyteller album and their read-along.
The compilation also includes a strange edit of the original soundtrack of the "Three Little Pigs"; after we hear the Big Bad Wolf blow down Fiddler Pig's stick house, we hear him yelping in pain after burning himself in the boiling kettle, to which the pigs then sing "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf," and then we get the Big Bad Wolf disguised as a fuller brushman (with redubbed audio) and then he attempts to blow down Practical's house, but fails, and then it ends with the pigs singing the song again.
