In the other corridor, Fleet-Of-Foot was doing much the same thing. He reached the hatchway to the room where the humans had been detained and pressed a free hand against the door activator. The hatch slid open and he sprinted inside the room at attack speed, assault rifles pointed in opposite directions and ready to fire, but the room was empty, with no signs of the humans. With a hiss, the door closed again. He figured they must have already been taken to the shuttle hangar, which would further complicate events, no doubt. Turning around, he lowered his rifles before pulling out his datapad from a skinsuit pocket. Activating the intercom function on it he lumbered toward the hatchway.
"The humans - HRRRK!"
Exploding from the cleaning pool in a massive spray of water, Tusker fired his assault rifles into the other warrior's back, riddling it with fist-sized craters full of gore and shattered bony-plates when the tiny metal darts chewed through the jerking body and exploded out through the front of the unfortunate warrior's chest.
Fleet-Of-Foot staggered forward and hit the bulkhead hard, the datapad flying from his hands along with his assault rifles. Twisting slightly as he slid to the deck, Fleet-Of-Foot saw through rapidly darkening vision while Tusker stood waist-deep in the sloshing water of the cleaning pool, with rivulets of water streaming over the bulging muscles on his chest.
Tusker lowered his weapons and studied the dying warrior with narrowed eyes and an expression of grim satisfaction. His plan had worked better than expected, he realized with a subdued feeling of pride as he sprung up and out of the pool, landing amidst the splattering of water on the metal deck. Walking over to the dying warrior, he kicked the discarded rifles further away and hunkered down next to him.
Fleet-Of-Foot's desperate gasps were rapidly becoming weaker while he lay there in a spreading pool of his own viscous, black, blood. He no longer appeared to be aware of his surroundings as his consciousness faded.
Tusker snapped his jaw shut softly and reached out a single talon which he dipped in the blood before bringing it up to the end of his snout where he examined it closely. Licking the sticky black liquid from his talon, he stood up and departed. The first bitter taste of the blood of his compatriots. His fall from grace was now complete.

I'm just kicking myself that I wasted so many commission opportunities to begin with on just generic scenes rather than getting the artists to do scenes from the stories like this. Never mind, making up for lost ground now.
Thanks for the lovely comment my Ozzie friend

Thank you - yes Jocarra went to a lot of trouble to make sure the details were correct, especially working with two major elements that she says were not her strong points - the technical (weapon) and the background (water). With the commissions I'm getting done now, I'm providing the artist with a brief excerpt like the above so they can get a feel for the scene the character appears in.
Seems to be working quite well. Thanks very much for the comment.

GRRRR BABY!
Each commission I get done, I try to just give the artist a written description rather than ref pics. This way hopefully I get pictures that are more in tune with that artist's style, rather than mere copies of someone else's work. Although given the description, I guess it's not too surprising some similarities end up creeping into the pics after a while. Besides, I am also directing things a bit as well
Marine? HOOOO-HA!

heheheh... Noooooooooooooo, not the railgun! I'll be good! Or Bad! Or whatever you want, lady, just put the gun awwwwwaaaaaay! AAAIEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I'd actually like to think that this would drive more people to your page to see your work and watch/fave it there. I always try and fave/watch artists on their own pages when I see commissioned work I like - and I'd like to think that many who watch me do the same.

Seriously, these are a gun that you really wouldn't want to have an accident with. Most guns aren't, but these seriously sound like they'd just screw up your whole house if you shot one off by accident... not to mention gibbing yourself in the process.
Yeah, I got a few new watches and stuffs thanks to you :)

Oh absolutely - the projectiles would need to be quite tiny for it to work very well in something that could be carried around by hand rather than needing a large vehicle - but the rate of fire and speed of those projectiles would more than make up for it. Although I would imagine the range would be a little compromised.
Jeezits, I used to have nightmares as a child about snakes popping out of the toilet, then refusing to go to the public beach right after I saw "Jaws"... and now you put THIS evil in my mind?!
And rest assured, this is only fright-inducing because it's so damn well done (and written!)... the way those rivets of water are bursting forth at such high velocity, it's apparent that this guy shot out of that pool at lighting speed. As, I guess, he would have to if he was going to take another Vanguard warrior by surprise.

Next time someone invites you over to have a soak in their hot-tub, make sure either they get in first, or you check it out for submerged Vanguard warriors before you step into it. Snakes popping out of the toilet? Is that a common occurrence in your strange country, is it? Good luck getting anyone to suck that poison out! :-P
Tusker wasn't stupid - you have no chance to take out two seasoned warriors together, so you hunker down and whittle their numbers down to something more manageable.

DEATH BY PEW PEW PEW .
Another kick ass commission piece there, I swear these are getting better and better all the time, I would love to see these as movie or full door sized posters for sale somewhere, I know I would buy them up in a heartbeat. Must be that thing I have about big hulking reptiles with big ass guns.

hehehe... Well Jocarra does have a DA site where she has uploaded this - you could always ask her if she wanted to make it available as a print?
I like death by PEW PEW PEW... well, like someone else's death, anyway
I keep trying to commission great artists, but generally luck out. Just struck it lucky to get two really good ones in a row.

Would you believe Tusker is one of the good guys?
But yeah,
jocarra did an amazing job of this - despite it being something a little out of her comfort zones.

I have not tried to +watch myself, I think that would cause some sort of implosion or something Just like finding artists who catch my eye with their work and that are hopefully open for commissioning such ridiculous critters like my Vanguard guys.
Like you, I try to include links to all artists so they can get the +faves on their pages - after all they are the ones that put all the time and effort into things.

*feels bad* I would normally make the effort and fave/comment in both places- I'm just *so* far behind and I find it hard to justify spending any time on FA at all these days. I am, of course, completely addicted to it though- so I should do the honourable thing and make said effort. I need to go back to my earlier submissions actually and make sure I have the proper links in them all. Funny how methods change through time- and you generally think you've always been doing it the same way!
I enjoy commenting on my friends' things- especially considering they generally give a damn that you took the time. Sorry I kept you busy replying to my influx! I didn't expect ya to do that actually!

Believe me I understand! 40+ comments, not to mention all the responses that last journal of mine got which will take a few hours to go through
So there is no pressure for you to comment on anything that I post. I quite understand if you favorite and run - your life should not revolve around this site, as addictive as it may be. And yeah, methods do change over time. I think the longer you are here, the more appreciative you are of just how much time and effort some artists put into their work. Although I do love a lot of the sexy stuff here, I appreciate it more for the talented artists.
And hell yeah I give a damn that you take the time Comments from people you know and like will always mean more than from some random stranger
