I admit I'm not sure how many apartments in New York have a laundry room to themselves; but if it's like Miami, some apartments have their own public laundry room, while others don't. I'm sure the apartment 2K and Ashe live in have that, but only like two washers and dryers per floor. So, when she needed to wash clothes and the units were being used, she'd go to the larger, more public ones.
