T.A. Schwartzchild - engines
One of the many, many assets I've been working on.
The overall plan is to create a comic fully in Blender. As it stands, I have about 90 assets needed for the first chapter. There are some groundrules for the whole thing though:
1) Assets cannot be created until the script is written and finalised for the current chapter
2) All assets must be created before pages are made
3) Assets are fixed for the length of that chapter. Model updates can only happen between chapters
4) Assets are created in order of appearance unless I feel like going out of sequence
5) Use of textures is discouraged to keep a more comicy aesthetic
6) Repeat
This is the T.A. Schwartzchild. A name I am already regretting because I can never remember how to spell it properly. She runs a route between Earth and one of it's colonies, transporting passengers and materials. you might just be able to spot the bridge. It's the little cluster of lights above the middle segment at the front.
The final preview for today. This shows off the massive engine array of the Schwartzchild. These realspace engines are able to accelerate the ship up to sufficient speeds for flawless decompositions. There's no reason for the engines glowing purple, I just thought it looked cool.
Being honest, I love a lot of the neon and 80's looks a lot of sci-fi stuff has had lately. I wanted to have a little bit of that, but I don't want it to dominate. The engines are big and chunky to convey a bit of their power.

Sideways thrusters.
When on approach, the ship needs to slow down, which means executing a 180 turn to do several days of deceleration. That's my story and it sounds better than "the old designs for the ship had a fin and something circular on it, so I kept that element and I thought it looked cool".
