Up until this point, all of my characters were the exact same body shape. Once I started sketching more pictures of Alice, I was inspired to make her subtly different, with bigger hips and a smaller bustline (aka "the Shakira"). Then I decided Autumn should also have more of a just-kind-of-average figure because she's not the type to be concerned about that sort of thing. This picture was my first attempt at portraying those differences, and I wouldn't blame anyone for not being able to tell.
As a guideline for anyone looking to learn from my mistakes, here are the two big ones: (A) From a purely front-on view (i.e. not taking into account the curve of the butt), the widest point should be at the same level as the crotch. I've been making it too high for ages. (B) The narrowest point should also be pretty consistent; somehow I'd gotten it into my head that it's higher on thicker people. I might have to attempt a redraw of this specific picture armed with what I've learned.

This was actually my desktop a while back - Autumn and Wynette are my faves here. Some of my female characters, like the ones in my welcoming Transmission, have slightly larger hips but more modest chest sizes, while the ones I drew as standalone characters generally had more on the top if not the classic hourglass like what Cheyenne has got.
