He is a crystal dragon how had his leg shattered. Cause the crystal dragons are all cool looking, but when their limbs and stuff break they shatter and can't be fixed. As they age they slowly grow more and more crystals until they can no longer move and then die. Which makes them a once living crystal statue forever.

Unless someone pushes it over....Then well thats a rude dude move.
