once i got past some of the intimidating stuff about blender, i started to really enjoy it~
i want to make low-poly a commission option, but feel like i need some more practice first, so i made this for beewizard ~ <3

interesting question--i actually started "learning" in Sculptris around a year ago, which is another free program that is **much** easier to dive into than Blender. It's very intuitive & I'd recommend it for starting out, but it does have a lot of limitations ((can only handle so many polygons before slowing down to unusable levels; VERY difficult to go back and edit if you notice a mistake later--and that part was giving me trouble when it came to commissions >> )). In the end, it's basically just a gateway drug to Zbrush, which....is not cheap, lol OTL
Anyway, with all those limitations starting to annoy me, I recently (actually just a couple weeks ago) decided to bite the bullet & learn some Blender--it's such an intimidating program, but this channel in particular really helped me out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa.....NE1A/playlists
i feel like these were the first tutorials i found where they weren't leaving out essential information ((like if they had their preferences or other settings changed from the default)) Maybe a couple of confusing things, but not nearly as frustrating as other tutorials I'd been trying ^^; They have great tutorials if you want to achieve something similar in style to this--highly recommended! <3
Now that I've gotten past some of the nightmarish UI, I'm definitely starting to prefer Blender over Sculptris, especially when it comes to correcting mistakes ^^;

that could be part of it too! 0:
but blender has such an overwhelming amount of settings & options & menus (i feel like every button on the keyboard has a different function in blender, it's so particular lol), that even the slightest failure to mention something you've changed in your own settings can REALLY turn a tutorial into a big bundle of frustration >>;;
