The follow up to the first Mindswap story! Shelly and Tabi are forced to spend time in each others body and deal with some of the problems that the other has to. How do they adapt? How do they deal? How do they not get the other upset at them to much! And will Lemon and Penny fix the device!

So far the whole experience hadn’t been so bad for Shelly(Tabi). Sure her first driving experience hadn’t gone completely as planned, and the officer hadn’t been as friendly as she’d hoped for when she was pulled over for merging without a signal, but at least the ticket she’d received had been a pretty pink color. She wasn’t sure just how Tabi was going to respond to it, but she couldn’t be that upset. Still, she’d not only gotten through her first drive with only the ticket and a scratch on the bumper from the parking lot, but also with ice cream! It was also from her favorite parlor instead of the so-so one from nearby.
Better yet she’d run into the Shell Shock boys who’d offered to give her a new outfit if she’d been interested. The young girl in the Weavile’s body took them up on it given that she couldn’t understand just what it was that Tabi dressed in such ugly, dark skirts when she could have something colorful and flowing. It didn’t take long for the boys to work their magic on her as they followed her instructions to make something pretty, pink and cheerful. Danny had been particularly happy to throw sparkles on the willing subject, much to the surprise of the others. She walked out of their work area much happier in her princess inspired fuku as she made her way back to the hallways of the school as she wondered how things were coming along with the machine.
Tabi(Shelly) on the other hand hadn’t enjoyed it at all. Sure the work out she’d gone through wasn’t as bad as some of the death marches, as she saw them, Vince had concocted in the past, but Cinny was still a tough coach. The team had been put through a pretty stringent work out and she was tired. She’d hoped that the time off from her own teams workouts would mean she could just do her own thing, but evidently she was stuck being in Shelly’s shoes until things were fixed and Cinnamon wasn’t going to let her get away. Tabi(Shelly) trudged through the hallway and looked around in hopes she’d spot her body; she was horrified when she did.
“What the hell did you put me in!” Tabi(Shelly) yelled to her body when she saw it. Shelly(Tabi) lazily turned to look at the shouting ‘mon as other students eyed the two oddly for a moment before they moved on. Shelly(Tabi) just smiled as the smaller girl stormed up towards the other with the deepest scowl she’d seen on her own face before.
“You like it?” Shelly(Tabi) asked as she twirled again to let the other girl get a full view of all the pink and sparkles she was wearing.
“Do you have any idea what you’re doing to my reputation?” Tabi(Shelly) whispered to her harshly. Much as she wanted to yell right now she knew she had to keep her voice down.
“Oh poo on you!” Shelly(Tabi) cursed back and stuck out her tongue, “You’re always wearing such dark colors,”
“That’s because they’re in style!” Tabi(Shelly) shot back.
“Well your style is stupid,” Shelly(Tabi) shot back. Tabi(Shelly) fumed and clenched her fists before she finally reached up and grabbed her own body by it’s collar and yanked it down so the two were eye to eye.
“Listen,” she said in a low and very annoyed tone, “We’re stuck like this until those two wrench jockeys get the machine fixed. So far I haven’t done anything to really hurt you, but so help me if you do anything more to damage my reputation or body I will find a way to get you detention for a year!” Shelly(Tabi) stared at the smaller, threatening ‘mon for a moment before her eyes started to water.
“And no crying!” Tabi(Shelly) added with a small growl. Shelly(Tabi) tried to hold in her tears out of fear of what might happen if she didn’t. She hated being yelled at, it was so mean, and Tabi(Shelly) was being mean to her. She was about to open the floodgates when another voice caught their attention.
“Letting little girls push you around now, Miss Warren?” The both looked up towards the speaker and each was filled with dread for different reasons. Tabi(Shelly) swallowed as she suddenly remembered just why the ‘mon was out looking for her.
“I trust you didn’t forget our little engagement, Miss Warren,” Dr. Graven, the advanced Dark Physics professor and bane of Tabi’s existence, said. She’s struggled through his lessons and done everything she could in order to avoid his classes, but he always found a way to pull her in. He’d made arrangements for her to help him prepare his classroom for the next term for extra credit.
“N-no,” Shelly(Tabi) eventually spoke up. Dr. Graven had always given her the willies and she didn’t want to spend any time with him if she didn’t have to, but if she didn’t she knew that Tabi would do bad things with her body.
“Good,” Graven said as he turned around, “Come on then before I change my mind about the extra credit,” the Absol started down the hall quickly.
“You gotta go with him and help him out,” Tabi(Shelly) hissed to the other, “Don’t do anything to piss him off!”
“I don’t wanna,” Shelly(Tabi) admitted.
“Just do what he says and you’ll be fine!” the other whispered a retort before she shoved her own body down the hall after the teacher. Shelly(Tabi) resisted at first, but then started to follow reluctantly after the professor. She wondered if detention would be better than being around the creepy guy.
“Dunno what’s worse,” Tabi(Shelly) muttered to herself, “Dealing with Graven or this,” She pondered for a moment how things were coming along to fix the machine.
Penny and Lemon sat in the lab as they looked at the pile of circuits and wires that had been their invention. They both quietly ate the sandwiches they’d packed for themselves as they pondered what to do from here with it. For now, though, they took their lunch break seriously and let the science go until the food was eaten.
Tabi(Shelly) smiled as she walked out of the Shell Shock Boys work area. She decided that if Shelly had been able to change her outfit at the very least she could be more comfortable as well. She’d gone to them quickly in order to get herself in a much more stylish top as well as a shorter skirt. She thought for a moment about how nice Shelly’s legs were going to be when she grew up some more and filled out, but changed her thoughts quickly since the girl was still, well, a girl in a lot of ways. Tabi touched at her freshly pierced ears as she remembered how much they could sting when you get your first earring. Her attention was drawn to several students who argued with each other just down the hallway.
“Look! You’re never going to amount to anything so just deal with it!” Favlaud Shocksa yelled at a smallish Gardevoir girl who looked to be on the verge of tears. Tabi(Shelly) recognized Sushi Kugler-Siam from elsewhere, such as the time the jolteon yelling at her had gotten into a fight with the Garde along with the actual Shelly who’d tried to help Sushi. A large Pupitar named Augustus Schroeder stood nearby and looked like he was about to hit Fav for saying that.
“You take dat back!” Augustus yelled at the Jolteon. Kyra Rayleigh looked between them all and tried to alleviate the anger that was flying given she was friends with all of them.
“Hey, no need to yell at my boyfriend, Augustus!” she retorted at the portly Pupitar. He puffed up his chest as he looked at Kyra.
“Then tell him to leave Sushi alone!” At this point the poor Garde had started to cry at all the yelling that was directed at her or because of her and the anger. She just wanted to hit Fav and run away but couldn’t get herself to do it. Tabi(Shelly) just frowned as she walked over, none of the ‘mon that argued even noticed her.
“What’re you gonna do about it…ack!” Fav was about ready to taunt Augustus when his collar was suddenly grabbed and yanked. He blinked several times in shock as he was soon face to face with who he thought was the young Shellos he’d had trouble with before.
“What the hell do you…” He started to yell at who he thought was Shelly when Tabi(Shelly) gave him a terrifying look and stopped him cold.
“You listen to me and you listen good you piss yellow porcupine,” Tabi(Shelly) started, “if you don’t stop harassing Sushi you’re going to regret it,” The four ‘mon stopped and watched the girl, not sure how to react.
“Oh yeah?” Fav finally spoke up, a little put off but not scared yet, “And if I don’t what’re you gonna do about it?”
“I’m gonna spread so many rumors ‘round school that your own girlfriend is going to start believing you dick’s the size of a peanut,” Tabi(Shelly) promised. The conviction in her voice gave even Fav pause. She quickly turned towards Sushi and pointed.
“And you!” Tabi(Shelly) added, “You don’t get a blank check to harass him in return! Back off him for the sake of your friend, Kyra!” The four continued to stare at the small ‘mon absolutely stunned. Eventually the Pupitar shook his head and stepped forward.
“Hey! You can’t threaten, Sushi!” He suddenly argued almost dumbly. Tabi(Shelly) just turned her gaze onto the portly boy who took a step back unconsciously.
“Back off, Moob Boy! Or you’re next!” Augustus just fell silent. Tabi(Shelly) let go of Fav’s collar and just glared at the lot of them before she started on her way again. She gave a look to Kyra as if to say, ‘You’re welcome,’ but didn’t say anything more as she figured her actions spoke volumes. She smiled to herself after she rounded the corner because of how much fun that’d been, and the fact she wasn’t going to have to face the backlash about it. She just hoped that it somehow fixed the constant bickering between the two since it’d gotten a little old by that point. Tabi pondered what to do next when she was suddenly called to from down the hall.
“Hey, Shelly!” Or more precisely someone called to her form. It took her a moment to remember she was in Shelly’s body before she turned to see Vincent Tellamapolou, her friend, coming for her. She was confused for a moment about it until the frogmon caught up to her.
“Hey! You forget about your testing?” He asked her. Tabi(Shelly) looked up blankly for a moment which spoke volumes. He just laughed and reached for her hand.
“C’mon! You gotta do your freshmen basics testing today,” Tabi(Shelly) started to protest before she realized that she was going to have to do Shelly’s testing for her. She just smiled and nodded as she kept pace with him and pondered if she should treat the testing seriously, or if she should mess with Shelly some…
When Shelly(Tabi) left Dr. Graven’s classroom she was visibly shaken and the older ‘mon seemed to prefer it that way. While the hour helping him hadn’t exactly been the most horrific of experiences the guy still scared the bejeezus out of her. She’d just been glad when the hour finally passed and he agreed to let her go. She shivered once the door closed and she wondered how Tabi was able to put up with him, let alone any other Dark types.
“Hey! Tabi!” Shelly(Tabi) looked up suddenly and glanced around in surprise as she heard her body’s name called. She was pretty sure she’d jump at either name at this point. The girl glanced down the hallway to see a Pachirisu wave to her, she recognized him as Tabi’s boyfriend Dominic Ardillo del Relampago. She looked around for a moment for an excuse to escape, last thing she wanted was to get the Weavile any more upset at her than she already was. He closed the distance to fast for her to escape so instead she turned and smiled broadly at the Pachi as he came up. He wasted little time and leaned down to give his girlfriend’s body a kiss which Shelly(Tabi) had not expected so the girl pushed him back some instinctively and wiped at her mouth.
“Hey, watch it!” she exclaimed. Dominic blinked in shock at her reaction before he tried to catch a wiff of his breath.
“Something I said?” He asked, genuinely confused. Shelly(Tabi) stopped and realized she was acting how Tabi wouldn’t and that she had to cover. She quickly reached out to take his hands and give him another large grin.
“N-no! Nothing like that!” she quickly said. Dom looked down at her and arched a brow.
“You okay?” He asked, “You’re acting strange…er,” Shelly(Tabi) just chuckled as she tried to pass it off.
“Yeah, everything is fine!” she could tell that he wasn’t buying it and was about to ask another question. The girl panicked and she suddenly yanked him down to her so he could lay a kiss on her. The Pachi mrfed in surprise but didn’t resist; instead he leaned into the kiss and returned it fully. Shelly(Tabi) held back her disgust for a moment but as the kiss kept going she realized that it wasn’t to bad. Soon her revulsion turned to interest as she started to move her lips a bit. Dominic seemed more than happy to keep it up as his lips parted slightly to try and slip her the tongue. Shelly(Tabi) was reluctant at first since she’d only seen people kiss with their tongues in movies and it’d seemed gross to her but she was wiling to giving it a try, if nothing else to keep Tabi from being more mad at her. Her own mouth started to open when something suddenly dawned on her. The girl quickly pulled back and gave the surprised Pachi a panicked look.
“I forgot my tests!” with that Shelly(Tabi) tore off down the hallway and left Dom behind. He watched her go with several blinks as he still wasn’t sure what had just happened. The Pachi wiped some drool off of his lips and wondered if she’d was doing something different with her kisses because that’d been a good one.
Shelly(Tabi) ran through the halls fast as she could get away with and headed straight for the gym where she was supposed to be that afternoon. A million thoughts filled her head as she wondered just how much trouble she was in. If she didn’t make it then she’d fail her tests and she’d have to take those classes over again. What if Tabi was there in her body doing her testing…what if Tabi in her body threw the testing and she’d have to take the class over again? She frowned at the thought and vowed that if Tabi screwed her over she was going to get her revenge somehow. Shelly(Tabi) burst through the door as she looked around for where her body should be if nothing else. She stopped short when she saw herself, and what was going on.
Relief filled the young girl as she saw her body smiling brightly up at Coach Vincent who was going through and seemed to be happy with the results of something. Tabi(Shelly) nodded her head and grinned widely as he went down a checklist and by the end of it gave a thumbs up. She said something snappy, or at least Shelly(Tabi) guessed it was, because Vincent laughed and shook her hand. The Shellos’ body skipped over towards her once Tabi(Shelly) had spotted her. Shelly(Tabi) looked down at herself with some apprehension as the little Shellos face smiled up at, well, herself. Shelly(Tabi) found her head hurting from trying to keep everything straight.
“So…how’d I do?” Shelly(Tabi) finally asked. The smaller girl patted her arm reassuringly.
“You did fine,” Tabi(Shelly) answered with a wide grin, “And don’t worry, I didn’t go overboard. So they aren’t gonna put you in all the advance classes and stuff.” Shelly(Tabi) wiped her brow in relief. She was a pretty decent student but last thing she needed was a bunch of high expectations like that.
“Thanks…for not tanking me,” Shelly(Tabi) said. She turned to follow the other girl out of the gym as she left.
“No prob,” Tabi(Shelly) answered, “You didn’t tank me with Graven did you?” the smaller girl asked. The other quickly shook her head in assurance.
“Went quick thankfully,” Shelly(Tabi) answered, “he scares me a lot,”
“Scares me a lot too,” Tabi(Shelly) admitted, “Good to hear me not tanking things was the right thing to do,” Shelly(Tabi) smirked at herself before she shrugged.
“Well, I gotta admit something,” Shelly(Tabi) said. The other looked at her with apprehension as she stopped for a moment.
“What?”
“I kinda kissed Dom,” Shelly(Tabi) tapped her claws together as she acted embarrassed. She left out the part about liking the kiss. Tabi(Shelly) just giggled at that and started back towards the science lab.
“He probably still liked it,” Tabi(Shelly) said, “C’mon, let’s go check on the girl geniuses,” Shelly(Tabi) nodded in agreement before she noticed something.
“Did you get my ears pierced?” Shelly(Tabi) asked.
“Shhhh,” Tabi(Shelly) responded, “We’re having a moment, let’s not ruin it,”
The duo chatted between themselves as they finally pushed the door open to the science lab. They stopped short as they looked around; it looked like the room was still recovering from the explosion earlier in the day. Wires lay scattered around the place, a few of the gears from the device were imbedded in the wall as neither wanted to know how much that was going to cost to fix. They stepped in further and looked around to see where Penny and Lemon had gone to.
“Hello?” Tabi(Shelly) finally called out to see if anyone was there. They didn’t get a response at first as their hopes started to feel dashed due to the silence. The sudden appearance of Penny and Lemon rose from behind a table caused both of them to jump; Shelly(Tabi) let out a cry of surprised as she almost jumped onto Tabi(Shelly), but thankfully for the both of them she didn’t.
“We were just about to call you!” Penny said as she plugged something in.
“We were?” Lemon asked doubtfully. She oofed as Penny elbowed her in the side to silence the Jolteon.
“We were!” Penny assured them as she motioned for the duo to come in further. Tabi and Shelly reluctantly moved towards the device that didn’t look at all like it was fixed, “It’s not pretty, but it should work,” Penny assured them before the duo looked over towards Lemon to get a second opinion. The Jolteon just ducked her head behind another table to avoid being the one to answer the question.
“So this thing’ll work?” Tabi asked once more. Penny nodded and handed her one of the headsets.
“Don’t you trust me?” the Scizor asked. The look from both Tabi and Shelly answered her question with a resounding no. They had little option but to, though, and both started to strap on the headgear that went to the machine. Penny quickly slid over to Lemon once the two couldn’t see anymore and motioned towards the device to try and get her to hurry. Lemon just gave her a look and plugged one more thing in before she gave Penny a shrug to show things were about as ready as they would ever be. The Scizor went back over to the device and rubbed her claws together.
“Ready?” She asked them.
“So long as we don’t die,” Tabi answered.
“I don’t wanna die!” Shelly quickly added. Penny just frowned at them for not being willing participants to study science and turned the machine on. At first nothing seemed to happen which prompted her to smack it with her claw. That was motivation enough to get it to start up and hummed as power went through the device. Penny threw some switches and punched a few buttons to get the program to start once more in case it was needed to get the device to work. The two girls watched as the pictures they’d seen when it all first happened were pumped into their goggles. Shelly squirmed nervously as she didn’t want anything to do with them, but wanted her body back so she bit down any fears she had. Tabi grumped as she sat there and just waited for something else to happen.
Lemon and Penny looked between each other and frowned at the lack of any sort of strange goings on and maybe this time they’d fixed it right so it wouldn’t blow up. Their fears were assuaged when electricity began to crack and run up and down the device once more. Much as they wanted to they didn’t push off the goggles as a familiar sensation started to wash over them, the device smoked and crackled as it all seemed to happen again. The two scientists watched relief that it looked like everything was going to be fine; then the device exploded and sent them falling back once more.
Slowly everyone began to pull themselves and coughed as smoke filled the room. Tabi and Shelly started to remove the goggles now that they could and quickly looked at their hands. Their vision was blurry from the machine blowing up and their own selves adjusting to the sensations that filled them, they wanted to check as quickly as possible if it’d worked. Several moments passed before they could see their hands. They both turned them over to reassure themselves if it had worked or not.
“I’m back!” Tabi exclaimed as she hopped up suddenly.
“Yay!” Shelly agreed in happiness as she threw herself around Tabi to hug the Weavile. Tabi returned the embrace as the two danced about in joy. Lemon put the fire out on her tie as she looked around to see what they were going to have to clean up as Penny sprung up suddenly.
“Well that was exciting!” the Scizor said, “Now we know what we have to do for the device to work properly!”
“Oh no you don’t!” Shelly yelled at Penny suddenly.
“Yeah! You gotta destroy that thing and start over!” Tabi added. Penny started to try to argue but the angry glares from the two who’d been forced to be a part of the worst kind of experiment caused her to stop and just nod.
“Yeah, sure, start over,” Penny muttered. Tabi let out a sigh of relief before she looked at Shelly smiled.
“Fun as that was, I gotta go home and change,” the Weavile said, “This outfit would be cute on you and all, but not on me,”
“S’okay,” Shelly said in understanding. Being in someone else’s body and dealing with the fears they had to deal with as well put some new perspective on things. She hoped that it’d be a good thing for Tabi too. The Weavile turned to head for the door only to stop as it suddenly swung open. A look of pure horror crossed her face as she saw the last person she wanted to come in entered.
“Hey, Lemon, what’s going…?” Licorice Swirl stopped and looked around with a blink as she saw the destruction in the lab. Her gaze stopped as she saw Tabi, still very much dressed in the pink princess and glittery outfit. The Weavile started to yammer as she tried to find an explanation, only for the much taller Umbreon yank out her cell phone and quickly take a picture. The snapshot was taken before the Weavile could get behind a table or even behind Shelly.
“Oh this is fantastic,” Licorice said as she looked to the picture, “I gotta send this out to people,”
“No!” Tabi started to jump for the phone, “Gimme that!” Licorice just cackled and kept it out of the much shorter girl’s reach and started to hit people on her contact list. Shelly giggled as she watched the scene and turned to skip out of the lab to head home. She’d had a long day and she hoped she could talk her parents into getting her some more ice cream; this time hopefully without a pretty pink ticket. She hoped that Tabi wouldn’t be too upset about that, or the scratch on the bumper. She figured the Weavile had enough to worry about right now, so it’d all be okay! And Shelly loved it when it call came out okay.

For now, though, they took their lunch break seriously and let the science go until the food was eaten.
Tabi(Shelly) smiled as she walked out of the Shell Shock Boys work area. She decided that if Shelly had been able to change her outfit at the very least she could be more comfortable as well. She’d gone to them quickly in order to get herself in a much more stylish top as well as a shorter skirt. She thought for a moment about how nice Shelly’s legs were going to be when she grew up some more and filled out, but changed her thoughts quickly since the girl was still, well, a girl in a lot of ways. Tabi touched at her freshly pierced ears as she remembered how much they could sting when you get your first earring. Her attention was drawn to several students who argued with each other just down the hallway.
“Look! You’re never going to amount to anything so just deal with it!” Favlaud Shocksa yelled at a smallish Gardevoir girl who looked to be on the verge of tears. Tabi(Shelly) recognized Sushi Kugler-Siam from elsewhere, such as the time the jolteon yelling at her had gotten into a fight with the Garde along with the actual Shelly who’d tried to help Sushi. A large Pupitar named Augustus Schroeder stood nearby and looked like he was about to hit Fav for saying that.
“You take dat back!” Augustus yelled at the Jolteon. Kyra Rayleigh looked between them all and tried to alleviate the anger that was flying given she was friends with all of them.
“Hey, no need to yell at my boyfriend, Augustus!” she retorted at the portly Pupitar. He puffed up his chest as he looked at Kyra.
“Then tell him to leave Sushi alone!” At this point the poor Garde had started to cry at all the yelling that was directed at her or because of her and the anger. She just wanted to hit Fav and run away but couldn’t get herself to do it. Tabi(Shelly) just frowned as she walked over, none of the ‘mon that argued even noticed her.
“What’re you gonna do about it…ack!” Fav was about ready to taunt Augustus when his collar was suddenly grabbed and yanked. He blinked several times in shock as he was soon face to face with who he thought was the young Shellos he’d had trouble with before.
“What the hell do you…” He started to yell at who he thought was Shelly when Tabi(Shelly) gave him a terrifying look and stopped him cold.
“You listen to me and you listen good you piss yellow porcupine,” Tabi(Shelly) started, “if you don’t stop harassing Sushi you’re going to regret it,” The four ‘mon stopped and watched the girl, not sure how to react.
“Oh yeah?” Fav finally spoke up, a little put off but not scared yet, “And if I don’t what’re you gonna do about it?”
“I’m gonna spread so many rumors ‘round school that your own girlfriend is going to start believing you dick’s the size of a peanut,” Tabi(Shelly) promised. The conviction in her voice gave even Fav pause. She quickly turned towards Sushi and pointed.
“And you!” Tabi(Shelly) added, “You don’t get a blank check to harass him in return! Back off him for the sake of your friend, Kyra!” The four continued to stare at the small ‘mon absolutely stunned. Eventually the Pupitar shook his head and stepped forward.
“Hey! You can’t threaten, Sushi!” He suddenly argued almost dumbly. Tabi(Shelly) just turned her gaze onto the portly boy who took a step back unconsciously.
“Back off, Moob Boy! Or you’re next!” Augustus just fell silent. Tabi(Shelly) let go of Fav’s collar and just glared at the lot of them before she started on her way again. She gave a look to Kyra as if to say, ‘You’re welcome,’ but didn’t say anything more as she figured her actions spoke volumes. She smiled to herself after she rounded the corner because of how much fun that’d been, and the fact she wasn’t going to have to face the backlash about it. She just hoped that it somehow fixed the constant bickering between the two since it’d gotten a little old by that point. Tabi pondered what to do next when she was suddenly called to from down the hall.
“Hey, Shelly!” Or more precisely someone called to her form. It took her a moment to remember she was in Shelly’s body before she turned to see Vincent Tellamapolou, her friend, coming for her. She was confused for a moment about it until the frogmon caught up to her.
“Hey! You forget about your testing?” He asked her. Tabi(Shelly) looked up blankly for a moment which spoke volumes. He just laughed and reached for her hand.
“C’mon! You gotta do your freshmen basics testing today,” Tabi(Shelly) started to protest before she realized that she was going to have to do Shelly’s testing for her. She just smiled and nodded as she kept pace with him and pondered if she should treat the testing seriously, or if she should mess with Shelly some…
When Shelly(Tabi) left Dr. Graven’s classroom she was visibly shaken and the older ‘mon seemed to prefer it that way. While the hour helping him hadn’t exactly been the most horrific of experiences the guy still scared the bejeezus out of her. She’d just been glad when the hour finally passed and he agreed to let her go. She shivered once the door closed and she wondered how Tabi was able to put up with him, let alone any other Dark types.
“Hey! Tabi!” Shelly(Tabi) looked up suddenly and glanced around in surprise as she heard her body’s name called. She was pretty sure she’d jump at either name at this point. The girl glanced down the hallway to see a Pachirisu wave to her, she recognized him as Tabi’s boyfriend Dominic Ardillo del Relampago. She looked around for a moment for an excuse to escape, last thing she wanted was to get the Weavile any more upset at her than she already was. He closed the distance to fast for her to escape so instead she turned and smiled broadly at the Pachi as he came up. He wasted little time and leaned down to give his girlfriend’s body a kiss which Shelly(Tabi) had not expected so the girl pushed him back some instinctively and wiped at her mouth.
“Hey, watch it!” she exclaimed. Dominic blinked in shock at her reaction before he tried to catch a wiff of his breath.
“Something I said?” He asked, genuinely confused. Shelly(Tabi) stopped and realized she was acting how Tabi wouldn’t and that she had to cover. She quickly reached out to take his hands and give him another large grin.
“N-no! Nothing like that!” she quickly said. Dom looked down at her and arched a brow.
“You okay?” He asked, “You’re acting strange…er,” Shelly(Tabi) just chuckled as she tried to pass it off.
“Yeah, everything is fine!” she could tell that he wasn’t buying it and was about to ask another question. The girl panicked and she suddenly yanked him down to her so he could lay a kiss on her. The Pachi mrfed in surprise but didn’t resist; instead he leaned into the kiss and returned it fully. Shelly(Tabi) held back her disgust for a moment but as the kiss kept going she realized that it wasn’t to bad. Soon her revulsion turned to interest as she started to move her lips a bit. Dominic seemed more than happy to keep it up as his lips parted slightly to try and slip her the tongue. Shelly(Tabi) was reluctant at first since she’d only seen people kiss with their tongues in movies and it’d seemed gross to her but she was wiling to giving it a try, if nothing else to keep Tabi from being more mad at her. Her own mouth started to open when something suddenly dawned on her. The girl quickly pulled back and gave the surprised Pachi a panicked look.
“I forgot my tests!” with that Shelly(Tabi) tore off down the hallway and left Dom behind. He watched her go with several blinks as he still wasn’t sure what had just happened. The Pachi wiped some drool off of his lips and wondered if she’d was doing something different with her kisses because that’d been a good one.
Shelly(Tabi) ran through the halls fast as she could get away with and headed straight for the gym where she was supposed to be that afternoon. A million thoughts filled her head as she wondered just how much trouble she was in. If she didn’t make it then she’d fail her tests and she’d have to take those classes over again. What if Tabi was there in her body doing her testing…what if Tabi in her body threw the testing and she’d have to take the class over again? She frowned at the thought and vowed that if Tabi screwed her over she was going to get her revenge somehow. Shelly(Tabi) burst through the door as she looked around for where her body should be if nothing else. She stopped short when she saw herself, and what was going on.
Relief filled the young girl as she saw her body smiling brightly up at Coach Vincent who was going through and seemed to be happy with the results of something. Tabi(Shelly) nodded her head and grinned widely as he went down a checklist and by the end of it gave a thumbs up. She said something snappy, or at least Shelly(Tabi) guessed it was, because Vincent laughed and shook her hand. The Shellos’ body skipped over towards her once Tabi(Shelly) had spotted her. Shelly(Tabi) looked down at herself with some apprehension as the little Shellos face smiled up at, well, herself. Shelly(Tabi) found her head hurting from trying to keep everything straight.
“So…how’d I do?” Shelly(Tabi) finally asked. The smaller girl patted her arm reassuringly.
“You did fine,” Tabi(Shelly) answered with a wide grin, “And don’t worry, I didn’t go overboard. So they aren’t gonna put you in all the advance classes and stuff.” Shelly(Tabi) wiped her brow in relief. She was a pretty decent student but last thing she needed was a bunch of high expectations like that.
“Thanks…for not tanking me,” Shelly(Tabi) said. She turned to follow the other girl out of the gym as she left.
“No prob,” Tabi(Shelly) answered, “You didn’t tank me with Graven did you?” the smaller girl asked. The other quickly shook her head in assurance.
“Went quick thankfully,” Shelly(Tabi) answered, “he scares me a lot,”
“Scares me a lot too,” Tabi(Shelly) admitted, “Good to hear me not tanking things was the right thing to do,” Shelly(Tabi) smirked at herself before she shrugged.
“Well, I gotta admit something,” Shelly(Tabi) said. The other looked at her with apprehension as she stopped for a moment.
“What?”
“I kinda kissed Dom,” Shelly(Tabi) tapped her claws together as she acted embarrassed. She left out the part about liking the kiss. Tabi(Shelly) just giggled at that and started back towards the science lab.
“He probably still liked it,” Tabi(Shelly) said, “C’mon, let’s go check on the girl geniuses,” Shelly(Tabi) nodded in agreement before she noticed something.
“Did you get my ears pierced?” Shelly(Tabi) asked.
“Shhhh,” Tabi(Shelly) responded, “We’re having a moment, let’s not ruin it,”
The duo chatted between themselves as they finally pushed the door open to the science lab. They stopped short as they looked around; it looked like the room was still recovering from the explosion earlier in the day. Wires lay scattered around the place, a few of the gears from the device were imbedded in the wall as neither wanted to know how much that was going to cost to fix. They stepped in further and looked around to see where Penny and Lemon had gone to.
“Hello?” Tabi(Shelly) finally called out to see if anyone was there. They didn’t get a response at first as their hopes started to feel dashed due to the silence. The sudden appearance of Penny and Lemon rose from behind a table caused both of them to jump; Shelly(Tabi) let out a cry of surprised as she almost jumped onto Tabi(Shelly), but thankfully for the both of them she didn’t.
“We were just about to call you!” Penny said as she plugged something in.
“We were?” Lemon asked doubtfully. She oofed as Penny elbowed her in the side to silence the Jolteon.
“We were!” Penny assured them as she motioned for the duo to come in further. Tabi and Shelly reluctantly moved towards the device that didn’t look at all like it was fixed, “It’s not pretty, but it should work,” Penny assured them before the duo looked over towards Lemon to get a second opinion. The Jolteon just ducked her head behind another table to avoid being the one to answer the question.
“So this thing’ll work?” Tabi asked once more. Penny nodded and handed her one of the headsets.
“Don’t you trust me?” the Scizor asked. The look from both Tabi and Shelly answered her question with a resounding no. They had little option but to, though, and both started to strap on the headgear that went to the machine. Penny quickly slid over to Lemon once the two couldn’t see anymore and motioned towards the device to try and get her to hurry. Lemon just gave her a look and plugged one more thing in before she gave Penny a shrug to show things were about as ready as they would ever be. The Scizor went back over to the device and rubbed her claws together.
“Ready?” She asked them.
“So long as we don’t die,” Tabi answered.
“I don’t wanna die!” Shelly quickly added. Penny just frowned at them for not being willing participants to study science and turned the machine on. At first nothing seemed to happen which prompted her to smack it with her claw. That was motivation enough to get it to start up and hummed as power went through the device. Penny threw some switches and punched a few buttons to get the program to start once more in case it was needed to get the device to work. The two girls watched as the pictures they’d seen when it all first happened were pumped into their goggles. Shelly squirmed nervously as she didn’t want anything to do with them, but wanted her body back so she bit down any fears she had. Tabi grumped as she sat there and just waited for something else to happen.
Lemon and Penny looked between each other and frowned at the lack of any sort of strange goings on and maybe this time they’d fixed it right so it wouldn’t blow up. Their fears were assuaged when electricity began to crack and run up and down the device once more. Much as they wanted to they didn’t push off the goggles as a familiar sensation started to wash over them, the device smoked and crackled as it all seemed to happen again. The two scientists watched relief that it looked like everything was going to be fine; then the device exploded and sent them falling back once more.
Slowly everyone began to pull themselves and coughed as smoke filled the room. Tabi and Shelly started to remove the goggles now that they could and quickly looked at their hands. Their vision was blurry from the machine blowing up and their own selves adjusting to the sensations that filled them, they wanted to check as quickly as possible if it’d worked. Several moments passed before they could see their hands. They both turned them over to reassure themselves if it had worked or not.
“I’m back!” Tabi exclaimed as she hopped up suddenly.
“Yay!” Shelly agreed in happiness as she threw herself around Tabi to hug the Weavile. Tabi returned the embrace as the two danced about in joy. Lemon put the fire out on her tie as she looked around to see what they were going to have to clean up as Penny sprung up suddenly.
“Well that was exciting!” the Scizor said, “Now we know what we have to do for the device to work properly!”
“Oh no you don’t!” Shelly yelled at Penny suddenly.
“Yeah! You gotta destroy that thing and start over!” Tabi added. Penny started to try to argue but the angry glares from the two who’d been forced to be a part of the worst kind of experiment caused her to stop and just nod.
“Yeah, sure, start over,” Penny muttered. Tabi let out a sigh of relief before she looked at Shelly smiled.
“Fun as that was, I gotta go home and change,” the Weavile said, “This outfit would be cute on you and all, but not on me,”
“S’okay,” Shelly said in understanding. Being in someone else’s body and dealing with the fears they had to deal with as well put some new perspective on things. She hoped that it’d be a good thing for Tabi too. The Weavile turned to head for the door only to stop as it suddenly swung open. A look of pure horror crossed her face as she saw the last person she wanted to come in entered.
“Hey, Lemon, what’s going…?” Licorice Swirl stopped and looked around with a blink as she saw the destruction in the lab. Her gaze stopped as she saw Tabi, still very much dressed in the pink princess and glittery outfit. The Weavile started to yammer as she tried to find an explanation, only for the much taller Umbreon yank out her cell phone and quickly take a picture. The snapshot was taken before the Weavile could get behind a table or even behind Shelly.
“Oh this is fantastic,” Licorice said as she looked to the picture, “I gotta send this out to people,”
“No!” Tabi started to jump for the phone, “Gimme that!” Licorice just cackled and kept it out of the much shorter girl’s reach and started to hit people on her contact list. Shelly giggled as she watched the scene and turned to skip out of the lab to head home. She’d had a long day and she hoped she could talk her parents into getting her some more ice cream; this time hopefully without a pretty pink ticket. She hoped that Tabi wouldn’t be too upset about that, or the scratch on the bumper. She figured the Weavile had enough to worry about right now, so it’d all be okay! And Shelly loved it when it call came out okay.
Now she just had to figure out how to explain her pierced ears to her parents…
