Today is Woadstag or "wood day" in old Norse.
It's a day of celebrating nature where nuts and dried fruit are traditionally left outside so that foraging creatures may collect them. For that reason I think this old Norse deity is a perfect choice for today.
In whatever variant they appear as in the many derivatives of old Norse beliefs they are often revered as one of the most important deities despite the fact that other than Toothpick's immortality they are essentially nothing more than a very clever squirrel.
The Romans in particular saw this deity as the most significant after their king of the gods, though in that form he appears as in human form as the deity Mercury. That's because trade and commerce were so very important for them.
Traditionally Toothpick is the favored deity of bandits for obvious reasons, however at the time he was most well known in his original form the greatest group of bandits, the Banpir, really despised this deity because they saw them as weak and useless in a fight.
There's some debate over whether Toothpick had the ability to fly or whether their flight was aided by other gods temporarily like with Dur's winds or whether simply Dur would come down to the earth to receive the message, all of which have been used as excuses at different times with no real way to say which was the original form as Toothpick is such an old god that he predates a lot of the written texts that survived the Christian invasion of the north.
However we do know that they are a red squirrel as their red fur is often mentioned, often as it stands out against a surface of a different color.
It's also worth noting that since he's a regular squirrel with no advanced strength that often the only things he can carry are jewels, jewelry and gold. However he was known to carry the Trunnel of Unparalleled Separation in his teeth when it was needed in various famous stories. This might be the reason why the Trunnel is often mentioned as being extremely light in weight as otherwise how could Toothpick carry such a mighty tool?
