So Halsey does have the last known coordinates to its body -- the ship known as Herald's Reach. I figure it (why do I have the urge to assign it a male gender and call it `he'?) would -- seeing that it's the ship's AI, and must have cartographical information, among other measurement data, about where the ship has been and so-forth. That still begs the question about why it didn't just teleport Kobaj back to the ship -- unless the coordinates were obtained some time during Kobaj's unwanted detour or Halsey's time interfacing with the central station that I am unaware of?

Also love the fact that Halsey has concern for the fennec's well-being -- worried that the ship changed locations. I'm sure Halsey could survive unprotected in space far longer than Kobaj would. And while it would be inconvenient for the AI not to have an organic help it connect to things and such, I think it would be fine in the end given some time.

The fox really is going to let his curiosity get the better of him, huh? Not only did he make a copy of Halsey -- keeping the original containment unit and giving the captain the copy rather than the original -- but he's still poking his nose into everything else, too. I really do look forward to reading more about this dynamic duo -- one resourceful and the other enabling him.

Thank so much for responding to my comments -- still think that's the best part of community-based publishing systems rather than through book-publishing systems where you don't have interaction with authors all that much if at all.

Well, he was panicking when on Vulpes! Brain don't work quite so well in a panic! At that point, he didn't know what the code would do, and since Halsey's just an AI and had no knowledge of the situation at that point in time, it just executed the code along the default coordinates. Which just happened to be that weirdo planet.

We just gotta wait and see where Kobaj's adventures take him. :3
