Howdyow!
So the next set of doodles are gonna ideally be focused on what im doing for the Canadian DragonScape Book that is complete from a text standpoint. But i do still enjoy just dumping and stuff so im gonna ramble right now.
As always right to left up to down.
So first off more work on body types. Not much from a dragonscape worldbuilding thing to talk about here but important for making varied drekir character designs.
Some dragon animals and experimenting. Having to rework dogs because drekir might actually start resembling dogs in a lot of ways, so im working on making dogs different from drekir, or as different as possible. Deer are also something thats finicky and im not super satisfied with the design.
A warmup drawing for a side profile drek that i did, pretty dandy. Some folks on the discord commented about how i draw the arms really far back so this is an attempt to remedy that.
A drek guard of some type, i would presume a merchant guard as their equipment isn't amazing but definitely better than what you would see from drekir militias. some simple travel garb, a soft Verdastal bowl helmet, and a single shot rifle with a bandoleer of both lead and blue shot. A step up from your average drek's pipe gun but definitely not as fancy as a professional adventurer or fighter in the DragonScape. I would figure this drek either has a bayonet somewhere or is gonna need a sword toting friend to keep enemies from getting too close.
Then there are two musicians having a ball. If the occasion is fancy you can expect to see drekir dressing in some brighter colors, but truly elaborate or garish clothing is rather rare. bright colors are usually enough to spell "fancy" for an event. Even then its not common for a drek to have more than one or two shirts or other garments so in many cases people show up to things with whatever they normally wear if anything at all. but having a matching shirt and... back cover? i dont know what to call it but either way. Matching articles are nice.
A swimming drek! So i wanted to try and draw a swimming drek and it turns out its actually pretty hard to think about. But i want to talk about drekir in open water.
As a general rule, the only breed of drek that is good at swimming is the Aquatic Drekir, DrekirThaf. Every other breed of drek is notably rather awful at swimming in open water, the common natural technique is basically to doggy paddle, which isn't an effective way of traversing open water. All non aquatic breeds are simply just terrible at swimming
One more warm up picture from a second day that was also used to answer a friends question on the average travelers sorta equipment. The most common person to frequently travel is a courier or messenger who often only jumps from village to village, only taking about a day at most to head to the next stop. So your common traveler needs to travel light for a few reasons.
1) A drek can go a while without really needing a meal and as such they don't need to carry much food on a 8 hour walk, water is a different story but still.
2) If a bandit or sivilao dragon attacks you and you need to run and drop off some weight or are robbed its better to only lose a few things rather than everything. Traveling light just makes it easier to run away from someone if needed or possible.
So generally a traveler or courier is more focused on light loads. some comfortable traveling clothes is nice, shoes, a shirt and a hat. A walking stick and some basic supplies on a light pack such as the small tail pack this one is wearing.
shaggy out!
