I have no idea how to use the damn thing. It's my brother's.
Edit: Yes I bleeding KNOW I let the barrel point too close to my feet, next person to point it out gets the clown hammer.

My brother says it's this round: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.56x45mm_NATO
It's on safety, my finger isn't on the trigger for that reason, and my brother says it's not set up right at this point anyway (he has to take it apart for a rail system or summat). That being said, the way my luck is I'll be shocked if it doesn't blow up in my face if my brother lets me fire it.
223 is a rather small bullet but is still big enough to go through steel plate. It may or maynot be loaded can't tell but even with safety on it can still fire through a malfunction etc.
A rail system will have no bearing on if it can shoot or not.
Im not trying to be an ass. But Gun never points straight down points to the side and away from your feet and other people. Turn safety on. Eject mag. Pull charging Handle check breach for any ammo left in it (if ammo left tack it out). release charging handle. Now pose. If you need a mag put in a empty one.
But at least the finger and the safety are in the right places.
Also they are ok weapons but need to be cleaned way to much compared to older rifles.

My brother has a few WW2 guns, a handgun, and a shotgun he deals with. He handed me the gun, said "hold it like this" and took a picture. While I appreciate your concern, you're about the third person just on this site that has pointed out the barrel has strayed dangerously close to my feet.
well we are talking about a device that was created for the soul purpose of killing. treat it with respect or it will hurt/kill someone. good rule of thumb if you are going to point a gun at anyone you better be intending to shoot them, because i dont care if the saftey is on or your finger is not on the trigger or even if the magazine is clear and the bolt is open, always treat every gun as if it is loaded.
