"Everything is exaggerated even slightly. Hell, we're talking about a fuckin 'idealized' version of oneself here, and as a narrator, I can't even begin to tell you how this starts. No, I don't mean to say there's a lot behind this. In fact, I mean the contrast. Sure, I could talk about the fiction here and the imagination as it travels through our minds. But, that's the thing baby, that's all it is. Pretend. Dreams. And why should we glorify that? What, some postmodern impressionist of 1940's garb thinking he's all that with a vape in his grasp? Standing out in the rain as if it makes him mesmerizing in some regard? Of all the places we could be in this city, why are we looking at some two-legged poser who's already thrown off to the side of the image like he's not all that important to begin with?"
"That's the point, love. Thank you for being fuckin obvious and bringing it to everyone's attention."
"What the hell is the point of it? Why should I bother?!"
"Just think about it for a minute. Pause for a second and consider the vile, atrocious things you're saying. It's all negatives with you sad bastards. Where's your spirit? Ain't you got a heart?"
"I don't need this."
"You're goddamned right you don't need it. But you've got it anyways sugar, and I'll tell you what's right in front of you that you're missing."
"Fuck, alright, then shoot."
"He's just a collective to a bigger picture. There's so much goin on in the world that you fail to stop and take a second to breathe. How down to the smallest little fragment of, well, anything, you've got such an overload of information that you won't know where the hell to put it. You won't need all of it, but it's nifty as hell you can find so much in there."
"Your point?"
"Okay, now go bigger."
"How big we talkin?"
"Not big at all. Look at 'em. He ain't so big. He ain't all that. He ain't nothing but a part of a bigger picture that doesn't even cover everything about this place it could be. You don't know their life. You don't know this city. You don't know why it should matter. There's so much there that could be, but you don't know it just yet."
"Why should I bother then?"
"Because it's fun to pretend! Connect the dots as it were! Why the hell would you put together a scene like this if you didn't have some kind of meaning behind this? Now sure, you may be right, it's just some kinda perfectionized layout to what the inspired put it to be. But that ain't want matters. No, it's what's here that we get to change. Not what the author threw together. No, it's taking something small and using your influence to make it...more!"
"Alright, but ain't nothin' in it for me."
"Maybe not. But just consider for a minute that you might've seen things similar to this, had it in your dreams, thought of yourself here or lived it yourself. What you can add to it, how you can change it, how you can replace it and make it yours. How anybody else could do the same. How we can always just make the picture bigger and slop out an endless amount of detail. It's something about life that's endless and how you could change a million details here to better fit what you'd desire. Something totally different but similar, equally."
"You talk like you're high."
"It's because I am! On all the possibilities in front of me, the places I could go, the routes I could take this one little picture from a capture of what cannot be replicated exactly the same. Every pigment is unique and our vision is different. You as the narrator had the job to tell the story of this piece, but you chose not to because you've got so many places to go you can't figure out where to start. It won't matter to everyone but it adds something to life. Even if it's not appreciated, it still exists, and it's mesmerizing how something can simply -be- if we will it to do so. I'm not asking you to care, I'm just here with the hope to clear your vision and offer a different perspective."
"I don't see much to work with."
"But you have something. You can make it work. You can make it yours. And I'd like to think that's what all art is: let it inspire your own journey and unveil your curiosities. There's a million stories here, and I'd hope to hear yours, just as I'm sure the artist behind it would. Don't hold back, because maybe you'll learn something if you take your time to stop and ponder for your own smoke break."
"We're all a bit different."
"None of us are the same. So I want to sit here and hear what your view is. Maybe I'll be able to illustrate it to mimic and share."
"Whatever answer you're looking for it ain't gonna be pretty."
"It's your vision, and that's the most beautiful I could ask for. Show me. Please."

LeoKatana a couple months ago and I couldn't be happier with it. They were fantastic to draw up this idea of mine involving Alazell and they were willing to go through a couple changes to expand the city to be quite grand in scale. They even threw in a little Easter egg which I absolutely loved to catch. They're always my go-to artist and I beg others to consider commissioning Leo. Thank you so much for helping bring this idea to life and I assure you I'll see you again with another illustration in the future Leo. <3
