I kinda feel like for between $100 and $300 it should be able to include a background... But that's really my only complaint. It's actually refreshing to see an artist actually charging what they're worth, so kudos for not underselling yourself. :)

But I paint the background if it fits into the composition and is not very detailed. and if it does, then it doesn't even affect the price. therefore, the price includes work specifically with the line, which I devote more time to. and it often turns out that the character detail outweighs the background.
and it will not look very harmonious if the focus from the character goes to some closet or shelf. when you can devote more time to a specific character and its elaboration. it doesn't count when it comes to a situation, history. when background details play an important role. but unnecessary details of the interior draw attention when it's just a pin-up art.

I think your explanation makes sense, yeah. Basically your style of drawing is one that doesn’t need a background, and you feel a background that has details in it would detract from the character, which is the main focus of all your art. Therefore the price is the same whether there is a simple plain background or no background at all. And I understanding correctly?

Ultimately, I guess I meant to express that I hardly ever see artists include detailed backgrounds with like trees and buildings and furniture anymore, and if I were paying hundreds of dollars for art I commissioned I would want my character to be placed in a scene with a background, not just a pinup. And I was a little saddened that you don’t draw that.

Which is to say, that’s not a critique of your art or the price of it. You draw amazingly well, definitely worth what you’re charging. I’m just wishing I could get more than what you offer.

I have one question. So you do comissions with characters like ahsoka tano of star wars or holo of spice and wolf?
