Since Schiphol also has carriers landing there that have the A380 in service, they needed a platform to be able to reach the upper deck of the A380. That is what this beast is for. The stairs can reach all the way to the upper deck of an A380 and, so I'm told, actually reach higher than the piers that the aircraft at Schiphol Airport dock on.

Pretty impressive.
