I met Frankie on November 4th, 2017 on a Sunday morning
I just had a miscarriage the friday before so I was withdrawn and going through the motions. Everything had become irritating. I had no emotional support at home.
I'd just gotten off my graveyard shift, it was around 8:30 to 9AM when I got home. I saw a black shadow under the truck as we were pulling up. Normally I wouldn't pay attention but I couldn't hear anything, I was numb and I was fixed on the little shadow as it popped out from behind the back tire. The driver was talking on but I didn't care, I ran out to meet the kitten. He was healthy lookin and friendly. The owner had just randomly dropped him off in the neighborhood but the kitten had been looking for me.
I found out that before we pulled up, he had already ran nto the house from the back door and my husband shoed him away.
I immediately brought him inside and named him Frankie.
He slept with me every night in my arms, on my chest, shoulders or my back. He stayed up when I was up late and didn't go to bed til I did. He would sit on my shoulders and watch me draw. He gave me so many aggressive head boobs and was always touching my face with his paw when he was snuggled up with me. He played fetch with bundled up socks and wouldn't use normal litter for a while so I had to shred paper for him and gradually add the litter.
He would have been over a year old by now, a big buffy tom.
Kees is dressed in her first mate gear, carrying Frankie off to see the world beyond the horizons on her late father's ship, "The Battered Flag".
Momma misses you baby. I cry every time I think about you, every time I look at your pictures. You were my son and I considered you a fair trade all considering. I'll never forget you.
