Savallah and I decided to commission
AndyD for an idea we had about our characters... and it turned out gorgeous!! My friend and I like to headcanon a lot and this was one of those ideas. Now for the good part, story time!! (This is an alternate version from Gabriel's original story, more like an alternate universe and his point of view)
"It has been a long time since he had an enjoyable fight. Taking his mother’s throne and taking charge of the demons as demon king, no one dared to challenge him. Bored, Gabriel decided to search for an opponent, more like a prey. Standing up from what is now his throne, letting his nine tails move freely, he prepares to go out on a hunt. He puts his earrings on and hides all his tails, leaving one free to roam. Now with his strength hidden, he takes his sword and slashes the air, opening a portal out of the demon world, but before entering, he felt a slightly different energy to what he’s used to, still he proceeds.
As he steps out of the portal, he saw many bodies on the floor of fallen men, only to be welcomed by an incoming attack of a dragon. As he stops the dragon’s head with ease with his left hand, he slashes part of the dragon’s throat with his right, covering his face with blood and the poor animal groaning in pain. He lets out a big smirk and awaited another attack from his prey. The dragon kept trying to hurt Gabriel, but with ease he continued to stop the dragon’s attacks. As he slowly bled, Gabriel was enjoying the suffering the animal was in. The dragon was preparing to give one final attack, about to give it his all with one devastating fire breath, all that did was make Gabriel interested and he just crossed his arms and awaited the attack. But as soon as he did that, a human approached the dragon and sliced his eye wide open, making the dragon stop his attack and take a defensive position. He knew what could happen if he didn’t finish him quickly so he decided to finally finish the job. The black flames started emerging from the dragon’s neck, wrapping the dragon in a sea of black flames in seconds. As the beast tried to give one last strike, Gabriel slit his head in two, falling to the floor and ending the poor animal. After that, the human and everyone remaining surrounded him in an attempt to capture him, making him grin viciously like he hasn’t done in a while. He could’ve easily wiped everyone out without moving a muscle, but something seemed interesting about the human who courageously attacked the dragon without hesitation nor fear, letting himself get captured.
As he arrived to the human’s “fortress”, he got a lot of eyes on him, both from a lot of humans and different creatures that lived there. Once inside, he expected the usual, get thrown into a cage, get questioned until he got bored and then escape with ease, destroying everything, however, the unusual happened. He was partially free to roam, but still got questioned by her. He loved how everyone was trying to investigate about him and her frustrated face, not knowing what happened nor what he was. The first few weeks were spent in that until the human decided to approach Gabriel more... directly, trying to start a conversation with him. He was both grumpy and moody, but cooperative. Slightly later he learned that her name was Savallah, also that she was the leader of that fortress, making him curious. Slowly everyone got accustomed to him, which made him slightly happy since in his world, everyone didn’t treat him with respect. As time went by, he started sharing how his powers work, sharing stories from his adventures and battles, helping out with anything that needed a hand and found some common ground with the human, making him secretly happy, finally having found a place where he could belong to.
As time passed, he started to got worried they would found out who he really was, the cruel, evil, dark and vicious monster he was, for he was a demon king bearing the infamous title of “The Fox of Death”. One day, finally having the courage to tell her, he awaited the perfect moment. Once Gabriel entered the room a “ You never visit me unless something happens or you need to ask something“ jokingly welcomed him, making Gabriel show his ferocious teeth and laugh. But then he got to the point, “There’s something I need to show you, and I wish its just the two of us...” made the whole room feel heavy for a moment, she rose one of her eyebrows and he waited for a response. “I know somewhere where we would be alone, but you know Cullen, he will have his sword on your throat once we get back” she shortly responded, adding to that “We’ll depart at dawn, be ready by then”. “Don’t worry, it isn’t the first time he does it and I’m already accustomed to it” he said with a smile as he left the room and laughed his way back down the stairs.
When sun had set, he went to the main gates where he saw her mounted in a strange dragon-like creature with another one. He tried to convince her he could walk, but he accepted the mount and traveled on it. Long time passed until they reached some forgotten ruins, where Gabriel could feel its history, battles, civilizations both extinct and born anew, the wind blew cold and strong. Once arrived, he jumped out of his mount and went in to wait for Savallah, who was petting her mount. He crossed his arms, closed his eyes and took a deep breath, waiting for her. “I think you wanted to talk about something” she said as she approached from his back. He sighed and proceeded... “That is correct, as you can see.... I’m not human, I’m a demon. To be frank I’m both a demon and a dragon” he worriedly commented. As he told his story to her, the only thing he saw in her eyes was understanding and acceptance. “You don’t know how much I hate my father and I wish to destroy him......well.... that’s all. If you wish to hate me and disband me, I won’t fight against you.... I know the kind of monster I am” he finished. “Thou shall be consumed by darkness or run with it.” Putting her hand on her waist and smiling replied. Gabriel was in shock and confused “Wait! You don't want to kill me or...?”. “Gabriel, from the very beginning I decided to embrace and walk with the darkness, I don’t care for what or who you are, you’re still my friend” she replied, making the fox’s worries fly away with the wind. He stretched his hand forward, making black flames start forming from his hand “This is just a small fragment of my powers, with this, I could easily destroy any nation or foe that stands in my way” he said as he saw her eyes shine. “Why not kill everyone in one blow then?” She asked in a haste grinning. “Then it wouldn’t be fun, a battle is not a battle without raging blood and beating hearts” he added as he grinned. “Who knew we speak the same language” she replied, later turning into laughter.
He stared at her knowing he was accepted for who he was, without being exiled, without being hunted down, without fear of who and what he truly was, only a welcoming smile ran through her face. They sat down near a broken pillar for hours staring into the horizon until they decided to head back. As they walked back and mounted their mounts, Gabriel started to wonder “I could teach that Dorian guy how to master his flames, even more, how to use black flames”. “Don’t you dare Gabriel, I do not wish to see my banners in flames again” screamed with her eyes wide open and worried. “Not your banners, but that Commander’s coat!!” He replied. “Gabriel by the maker’s breath, don’t you dare do such thing, I won’t allow it!!” She yelled in a rush. “Why not?” He asked “Only a bit of his clothes maybe... in fact, I could just eat him whole, that could be fun!” He said while passing his tongue through his teeth and letting out a wicked, maniac laugh and looking at the stars. “NO! DONT” she screamed from the top of her lungs.
Half way back was filled with them arguing. “So this is what you meant.... mother? Hmph....I never knew things could get this interesting” he murmured to himself close to reaching the castle and looking to the sky. As his blue eyes filled with determination stared into fate itself, he knew he wasn’t going to go on new adventures by himself now, he found a comrade, a friend to cherish and protect, but not just that... someone he would gladly put his existence on the line for..."
