Here we have the protagonist in my Viking story "A breeze from the north".
Odd Skogarsson, PhD (Odden = Tip, like Sword-tip in Old Norse) is the son of the Jarl Skogar Redulfsson.
As the son of a nobleman, Odd lives pretty well, in a large farm in northern Svealand. He is the middle son of three children, big brother Wyrm and little sister Wynja

Dangers moves, however, in the south. A civil war is forcing his father and older brother Wyrm to go out to fight. The king, which they dedicated their lives to protect, have now turned against them. The army they face is almost entirely composed of Christian troops.
From a hide in a stone cairn Odd sees his father get killed by one of the king's nobleman.
They are forced to flee, constantly threatened by the wilderness and robbers, to team up with the remainder of the Redulf family, far up north.
A constant fear of the Christian Cross ... and a strange fire, that flares up in a pure animal hatred ... starts to grow in the heart of the boy, which came to be known as White-eye.
