Often, some of my friends (mostly female) ask me why I don't have more of the females I draw wearing big poofy dresses and doing more girly stuff instead of hopping around with the lads in armour, capes, and swords.

I never really have a good enough answer for that. The whole notion of the damsel in distress doesn't interest me as much. I think its a lot more powerful to see the females of the Wolf Lands fighting for their freedom alongside their mates instead of staying in towers, waiting for the heroes to come save them.

Hate to break it to you ladies in towers, but Prince Charming probably was slaughtered, gutted, and left to rot on some battlefield by Fenrir and his heartless legions.

That ought to clear up any damsel in distress issues. After all, who will fight for the freedom of the world when all the men are dead?

Anyways, Ilana is a dog captain. I gave her the edges Rank and Command, so she's the commander of a garrison at Kolband, a Doggior fortress on the northern border of Pupiokoli, and therefore probably gets attacked a lot.
