Hah this is great! Have some fantastic memories of backpacking where similar happened. Sky opens up and a wall of water just sloshes over everyone then absolutely everything is soaked and the noise & feel of squishing socks sloshing water between your feet and shoos in your boots won't go away!

Yes exactly! On the way back a couple days later we barely faltered when we came to the same river crossing and just trudged on through.

So many camping adventures over the years to look back on fondly and so many to come later down the line!

Funniest one went to leading a group from Louisiana up the Michigan Lakes trail in Colorado. Pitched camp right below treeline, the temperature tanked to below freezing and we got a good bit of snow. Just watching people gawp at a few inches of snow for over an hour is great. Later in the day some of the more adventurous guys in our group made makeshift sleds (Mostly out of their dirty shirts.) to go play in it.

Also so amazingly pleased to see more proper North American elk around, there are so incredibly few of them and they're absolutely gorgeous animals.
