If only 'twer that eay! Never said I didn't like JD, just he doesn't. He did watch PotC with me, though. So score one for me. And will eventually get to see it, just don't know when. Should really watch No Country for Old Men. Borrowed it from friend last week. Again, he doesn't want to see it, so I have to wait 'til he's busy outside or something.
What don't you get about careful?
Of course, guided weapons didn't stop the percentage of civilian deaths from going up.
Of course it's likely that we're getting the same number of civilian deaths, while decreasing the deaths in our own ranks.
90% of deaths in war now are civilian.
Of course, the problem with believing in the sanctity of life is it's a tactical lie.
Life feeds on life. Those who live thrive on the suffering of those no longer live.
So really, pacifism is anti-life, which is not where I expected this train of thought to end up.

Heh, either way, I appreciate human life, and I am a pacifist.
I understand the importance of war, but I feel there are ways that war can be avoided.
There are measures that can be taken to prevent wars.
I do NOT support the war in Iraq simply because this war has nothing to do with freedom.
We are oppressing the Iraqi people because Bush wanted to get in for the money and oil.
There are ways to avoid fighting, but if it is necessary it is necessary.
I stand by soldiers and respect what they do, but that does not mean I will ever be one.

Now, I wouldn't say we're oppressing them. Saddam was oppressing them, and the Iraqi people do tend to prefer our oppression over his.
As for the importance of war, that's a myth. Wars have come and gone, we fight them in the hundreds, they're really quite common.
And you can prevent wars. It's called 'peace'. But there is a down side. The longer keep the peace between righteous wars, the more likely this animal house is to tear itself apart with the turmoil contained by being a 'melting pot'.
And why don't you support the war in Iraq? It has plenty to do with freedom. It's our freedom to go and kick out regimes we don't approve of. After all, you can only have freedom after you've shown everyone who's boss, and where the lines are. Cross the lines, and your freedom is fucking revoked.
There's no such thing as a just war. We just see all the brown people suffering around the world, and we experience the great white guilt (also availible in black, Spaniard, and AZN) wherein we feel the need to help everyone be free and other such bull.
Our government obliges that desire by stirring us up, and empowering our less-fortunates to go beat their less-fortunates into submission. And of course, since guys like me just love the opportunity to get three hots and a cot at the expense of the taxpayer, while handling weapons and being trained to kill, we all go along with it.
God, I love this country.
