The Nightmare Before Something
Usually I draw a cowardly great dane for Halloween every year, but this year Craig 'n I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas and I got a hankering.
I can't remember the last time I drew Mr. Jack "Hot Topic" Skellington, the only true modern goth icon. Maybe when I was 13/14? Bizarre given he's one of my favorite fictional characters. The film's art direction and animation are still pretty damn good, even after 25 years.
It's only just now Halloween and we've been getting snow where I live (might even get some tonight), so here's Burton's Darling in a cloudy haze seeing the first snowflake of the season.

This is awesome!
Y'know, it's weird, I was going to commission you to draw a character of mine that's a skeleton. [After the one you're working on is done-- from the same story, actually!] I had trouble writing for the character because he doesn't have anything to make facial expressions. I tried using Jack Skellington as a reference but his has the same proportions as a person with muscle and skin, so it didn't help. [A friend suggested drawing more attention to the fact that he's different, but it's weird.]
Anyway, it's really cool to see Jack drawn more realistically. And seeing him enchanted by the snowflake is super cute!

thank you!
if you're ever looking for someone who loves drawing bones, hit me up. i'll draw any bone in the world. maybe even a whole man of bones!
jack is a weird character because he fits within only one context and thats tnbc. you put him in basically any other style/setting and his design becomes weird and unreadable
