This is a picture taken outside of my apartment building in State College, PA. Remember, the date is OCTOBER 16. Officially 4.5 inches at the observing post downtown, was 7 at my office building.
Part of the problem with ridiculously early season snowfall? The snow that falls is always the heavy wet kind that's perfect for snowball making. In addition, lots of leaves still on the trees, allowing more snow to accumulate. As a result? You get lots of branches breaking off of the trees just from the weight. As I type this out, 14,000+ people are out of power in State College alone. Best part? Another round is coming tonight into tomorrow. MORE SNOW!
This is gonna be a nuts winter in the east, guys.
