My friend Ken who actually served aboard a Liberty Ship in the late 1960s inspired this cartoon. During a much younger Mr. Foxy's stint in the Navy, he had his share of "Disagreements" with the "Higher Ups."

I can understand that. The same thing happened to the S. S. Lane Victory when they were trying to get the WW II era ship across the Atlantic to be there for the 50th anniversary of "D-Day." Ships for the most part are mysterious, cantankerous, and often unpredictable, large pieces of machinery.
And you know what's "Spooky?" It's not too uncommon for sailors to take on roles aboard a ship, and "Fall" into place, learning their tasks quickly. Now most folks will say that the Officers and CPOs are mostly to blame, but sometimes it seems the ship has an influence on it's crew. I "Feel" this whenever I visit Museum ships like Jeremiah O'Brian, and the USS Midway.
