Melanism is really rare, even rarer than albinism! Glad I knew that without Googling it... because I googled it nearly 3 years ago...

I agree with CumInflationFemboi Melanism is extremely rare, Ainoko's and Acmen-Met's mother is a rare black cheetah (In rl there has only been two reports of a black cheetah in the past 200-250 years)

Let's also not forget that there is no such thing as a black panther, they do not exist. They are in fact black leopards.
On top of which, white tigers are not naturally born at all. White tigers can only be born after several generations of inbreeding, which can only happen when they are in captivity and bred in such ways. White tigers are born of long-term inbreeding in order to create the famous 'white tigers' for profit. While there have been white tigers before, and have been born naturally, the gene is so recessive that even with two with the gene mating, they may not ever have a white offspring. With the rapidly declining population of tigers, it's safe to say that currently, less than 1% of all white tigers in the world are purebred as opposed to the remaining 99% being inbred.

Yes, black jaguars too. I forget about those ones. I'm only really aware of the black leopards since I haven't actually seen a black jaguar before.
