ORCTOBER: Halloween/LARP/Cosplay Costume (Initial Test)
HAPPY ORCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!
...this is why I haven't been around much the past few weeks. Been putting the WIP photos on Twitter, and hope to do a photography session in the woods or something some time in the near future.
Inspiration came from Skyrim (Steel Nordic Armor) and Lord of the Rings/Shadow of Mordor. Took about 50 hours over two weeks. Super proud of it though, came out way better than what I was expecting. I'll post the WIP photos here later, along with whatever experience/advice I can come up with.
Cheers to everyone for watching/commenting/favoriting my work; I'm doing this for you guys. Like I always say, I know there's folks out there with similar interests as me, and I hope that whatever I post provides enjoyment, satisfaction, and inspiration for you all. I know I don't respond to everyone like I used to, but I read every comment and appreciate everything you guys say. Thank you so much.

Many many thanks man!! I appreciate the compliment! Definitely took a bit of time to put together, but I definitely think it was worth it for the positive reception it's been getting—if I can make people happy by bringing some fantasy orc to life in a few photos, then my mission is complete!
D'aw, thanks for that! It's a chinless mask from Amazon, I painted over it with some acrylic paints and then applied facepaint, makeup and the beard to blend it all together; so I really appreciate it! That's where a lot of time consuming detail goes every time I put the costume on!!
Wowie, well that's awesome!! Hope you have a fantastic time! This costume took me two weeks to put together, and one week to plan/order all the parts for, so I bet if you took the time, you could definitely build something like this for yourself! I've got some work-in-progress photos on Twitter, and I'd definitely like to put together a little guide on how I put it all together. I didn't use any super challenging techniques, and this was the first time I've ever done anything like this (heck, anything physical 'arts-and-crafty' in general), so hopefully it'll be helpful for anyone wanting to build something like this for themselves!
Hah! Fantastic!! Many thanks for that buddy, I put a heck of a lot of effort! Went on the streets in Boise, went to a haunted house, and walked the neighborhood during Halloween trick-or-treating, and I'd say I only got 30% of the possible photos I could have had with kids and such, because apparently it was so fierce and realistic, kids were too scared to get a photo with me!!
Lumbering around in-character, walking at an angle and carrying my weapons like I was stalking prey probably didn't help make me look cuddly and approachable though, I suppose...!

Many cheers Ogrebear!!The armor was a big surprise; didn't know how it was going to look until I was doing the final steps for detailing and weathering—and suddenly after that one step, it all looked brilliant. I was super amazed!
I'm definitely going to be doing a woodland photoshoot, hopefully this weekend (three days off wooo). Going to go for a Skyrim/Lord of the Rings photoshoot sort of style, so we'll see what happens and what kind of locations I can scout out!
