Finally finished the shading for my Gemsona/Steven Universe OC. I chose Amber for a couple of a reasons: 1. It hasn't been used in the show yet 2. It's an organic substance so it's not likely to be used (although Pearl is an organic substance too), and 3: I had group of characters based on the Saber Marionettes named Sapphire, Amethyst, and Amber and the other two were already taken. So far my idea for her origin is that she was created by mistake during the gem war. She was affected by the corruption but Amber is supposed to have cleansing properties (like most gems according to the internet) so over a long period of time she was able to cleans herself of the corruption where she eventually raised among humans. I'm going to say she "Grew up" in Hawaii because her "outfit" is inspired by kendo gear, and Hawaii at least in the real world has a large Japanese population making the kendo influence more likely. If any Steven Universe fans see this, let me know what you think.
