After a conversation, I started thinking about a couple of my older characters and realized that I don't have any recent drawings of my dear Ave. She was my very first fursona, before I really understood what a typical sona is meant to represent. She has changed a million times over since her "birth" in 2005, but here is her most recent look.
First, I doodled a quick sketch of Ave and her husband, Lance. It was terrible, so I then decided to sketch a bunch of gestures to get a better feel for their newer personalities. A page full of sketches ended up being this one very refined doodle of just Ave. While sketching, I couldn't stop thinking about how much I hate drawing her hair (it was very long, full pigtails), but I didn't want to cut it off, either. Her wings, giant tail, huge ears, and full pigtails were all just too much on one body. Same reason I had to tone down the appearance of my other character, Aeris. I finally convinced myself that it's time for a hairstyle change, and I am in love with her again.
Her pigtails, combined with her proportions and flat chest, gave her a very childish look. That was fine when I was younger, but as I've grown, so has her personality and story. I think this hairstyle is a much better fit for a mature, near demigoddess, High Priestess of her societal ranking.

Thank you! She's very much similar to her old appearance, but more refined. My girl's all grown up ;o; And yeah, one of the oldest, for sure. Not number one, but close.

It's funny that I said I was going to do a bunch of gesture sketches to get a better feel for her personality and then drew this, because this is the opposite of her personality. x) But I was thinking about a very important part of her story that I one day hope to put in my game, if it ever gets made, and it's a sad point for sure. But I spent so long on this that I didn't want to sketch anything else.. Next one of her will be back to her happy self!

I actually think a lot about Ave, despite how little she has appeared in my art over the recent years. She's always been one of my "special" ones that I'm very fond of. Hopefully we will see her more often.

Yeah, that ended up not sticking super well, but I'm back to wanting her to stay nonsexualized, for sure this time. She's not asexual or a prude, but that's not something she wants to share with FA..

hm. i don't remember if i saw her around before, but she looks very familar.
i really seriously love how this turned out though, i absolutely love how cute her shape is, she really does look so regal and pure. this picture is a great reason why i loce how good your art is and how perfect you can draw the body. it all looks so soft and pretty. big ears are great as well, but her hair is gorgeous, changing it from pig tails to brainds and how it's braided stand out and helps with her looking and feeling sort of god like.
