a sad ending and a new friend
TW; ANIMAL DEATH
Kind of emotional on my part, more of a vent really. no need to read unless you're curious :0
so,,, one of my leopard gecko's died about a month ago, her name was Samus. I had ordered a larger tank with side opening doors for her but they were on back order so it took about a month to arrive at the store. Samus died from what i'm assuming was an issue with impaction before the new tank arrived. she ate a newly filled food dish full of mealworms plus the carrots i put in for the worms. when she went into shed she would hide out in her moist hide for a couple days so i didn't realize anything was wrong until I checked on her 2 days later. I really had no idea how attached i was to this gecko, like, i knew I loved her but her death hit me really hard...
I moved my other gecko splotch to Samus's 20gal tank but she's a lot more timid and i know she wouldn't appreciate the new 35gal that i ordered unless i could fill it to the brim with hides and coverage, and that's a little more than i wanted to have to clean. I did a lot of research and decided that a ball python would be a good fit for me.
this is my new ball python. She's a Lesser x Mojave BEL named Ridley. All white snake with blue eyes.
I decided to name this new girl Ridley to keep with the theme and to keep a memory of Samus.
i bought her at an expo about a week ago <3 I know that she'll never replace Samus but i'm still happy to welcome her into my life for hopefully a few decades at the least!
i've been letting her settle into her new home so i haven't handled her since I stuck her in the tank. She was displayed in that clear cup when i bought her but i transferred her to a larger tupperware container in the car and then straight into her new tank from there. I was only at the expo for like an hour and i was there when it open so hopefully she wasn't too terrorized by the whole event. QwQ
my phone is old, apologies for the poor picture quality :C
I most likely will not be uploading pictures of her here unless that's something you all want to see. My phone is ancient so pictures will all be terrible lol
i will move this to scraps folder in like a day or two.
