Talk to the hospital billing department and show them the letter. Tell them that insurance is not willing to pay.
That price you are seeing is the price billed to an insurance company, not the price that an individual is expected to pay.
Either there was a coding issue and they didn't submit the claim to your insurance correctly or they will drastically reduce the bill amount.
Expect to pay around $400-1000 rather than $9000

You dont owe all of that upfront. The hospital will make a payment plan with you that you can work to fit your Income. Some hospitals will let you pay as little as $10 a month as long as you put money towards the debt. Dont let this make you think this is the end. It's just a large inconvenience.
Get in contact with the hospital and see if you can haggle them down. Is quite a common issue this where they charge a very high price for anti-biotics or IV bags which really don't cost that much. They'd rather you paying something back rather than nothing at all so hopefully will step the price down.
You could even Google the Anti-biotics name and see what the list price is for it, just as a bit more ammunition to get them to bring the price down.
It's a very unfortunate situation to have some come like this after a most likely very stressful and emotional time. You have my best wishes and hope.

Wow, just wow.. that really sucks bro! Really it does :(
I would call the insurance company and try to talk with them on something that can be done. Maybe come to an agreement on a payment. They pay a bit, and you pay the rest maybe? Even if it's a thousand or two thousand or three thousand they can pay.. any amount can help.
As for the medical expenses itself, You can set up a payment plan and pay whatever you wish or want or bare minimum you can. Like maybe 15 bucks a month up to maybe 50 or more.. whatever you can. Yes it would take a long time to pay but they would stay off your back.
Something will look up, something will.

*laughs and hugs* wanna know the saddest part to this.
In December it actually culminated in me getting MRSA in the chest wall and blood..... that put me in the hospital for several weeks. And on iv treatment for a monyh..... then about 75k mors into debt.
Got a cool scar from it. *chuckles sadly*
Also nice to chat with ya again. Been a good while. Do you have a telegram?

Did you ever get any of these dropped? You have to keep 'making an effort' but also making it clear they're squeezing blood from a rock, they'll often drop them considerably. IT's a terrible hassle but i've gotten 20k knocked off my own bills a few time. I have never been able to get get insurance in my life. I have a heart defect, so no one would cover me, not they can't deny me but they can make the price too high for me to ever afford.
