Ogres. Considered by many to be the great antagonistic force in The World, they are known primarily for their prodigious size and strength, almost equal to that of half-giants. But while half-giants spend their time living in remote colonies or mountain monasteries pursuing perfection of mind and body, Ogres live for one purpose: domination.
Very few ogres escape their societal bonds, but those who do are called outcasts: forever marked with blood price on their heads, they are able to find refuge only among the most welcoming and empathetic races. Some find shelter and support among the goblins within the Fourth Kingdom of Raafah, while others earn their place among orcs and humans within the Sixth Kingdom of Fjarrland, or the Seventh Kingdom of Avirnon. Those who are unable to be accepted among civilized society, often travel to the Lawless Lands, where they earn their keep as bandits, often rising to positions of leadership within the brutal anarchistic societies. The largest group of outcasts are a group of blood-kin ogres who were exiled from the Third Kingdom of Blakkrheimr, and forced to travel the coast until encountering residents of the Forth Kingdom, who offered them escort to a series of large, uninhabited islands. Once arrived, they began building their society, and are today known as the Maali; ogres who have embraced their tribal roots and seek happiness through kinship rather than dominion.
Mau’lo is one such Maali ogre, and is aide to a group of Highland Raiders: orcs who have formed a tribe or band, and patrol the Eastern Lawless Lands to keep the peace, and protect against the ever present threat of the Wildmen; humans of a feral disposition, who are a constant threat to all who reside far north of the Seventh Kingdom. A natural druid, Mau’lo discovered the presence of mystical forces within him, and learned how to manipulate the elements over many years.
Within his personal shelter, a mark of great respect among the brotherly band of orcs, Mau’lo's meditations are interrupted by the entrance of Ragnor and Mokk: Ragnor, a prince by blood-right, and Mokk, second-in-command of the Raiders, are unique visitors, and Mau’lo welcomes them in his usual way to those brave enough to confront him within the privacy of his shelter...
