A little sketch playing around with a watercolour brush in clip studio paint.
tbh I still dont quite get how the brush works... but the soft effect is fun to play around with.
The sketch is for my species idea. still not sure about the name but at least I have some concept art.

If this species would have tongues like the ones you drew before, radula one would seem really practical for grinding down food; I imagine the way they eat would look kinda like they are kissing the food, but actually they are scraping and grinding it (imagine them eating a watermelon or a cucumber haha). You could also make radulas have different shape depending on their origin, caste or something. If you haven't, I suggest looking at how different radulas are under the microscope.
How would the rest of their body look like? Would it be more snail-like or gastropod-like? Definitively check out all mollusk classes that exist, personally I find Polyplacophora really cool looking.
As for the name try something with "mel-" (https://www.etymonline.com/word/*mel-?ref=etymonline_crossreference#etymonline_v_52691). When you decide how would their full body look, try writing down what is characteristic for them and combine few most notable ones. The idea I have for now is "Melisomans" (mel (soft) + soma (body, greek)) or "Melicorps" (mel (soft) + corpus (body, latin).

OMG thank you for your reply! :D Sometimes I can't bare to put myself out into the void without feedback.
I love your idea of the food kissing xD it sounds SO cute :D But I am not sure if my skills would allow me to go into such a detail for the radulas. The one I drew was already a one hour struggle.
The rest will be more humanoid. I wanted to just to pair a humanoid alien race with, as already mentioned mullusks. Mullusks had all the traits I wanted to incorporate like gooieness (is that a thing?), colourchange, transparancy... seaslugs are so beautiful. And hermaphtoditism is a great excuse to genderbend designs x)
If you want I'd share a first darft in a private message (I still don't wont to put it up here and I must warn you, there will be a pair of tits... not the bird ones)
... and wow. is that where "marshmellow" comes from? :O I was joking around with a friend today. he was poking fun at me because of the tentacles, said there would be no morals with those creatures. I protested and we both were laughing about "moraliens". But ALL your suggestions are SO MUCH BETTER!
May I use one of them? Melisomans sounds so great! :OOO

If their society would have castes, they could have flags and clothes (kimono or toga-like maybe) with the radula pattern on them to show where they belong (imagine a tire track but instead of a tire a radula dipped in ink and stamped onto a paper). That might simplify things a bit.
You could implement shells to their designs. E.g. a bivalvian female could have one half of a shell on each hip.
I'd like to see that draft. Thanks for the heads up.
I would not know about the origin of the name "marshmallow".
Feel free to use suggestions, thats why i suggested them.
