Reminder micro-feathers exist. You can use those in place of hair for lots of unique styles and maybe "cockatoo" like effects for when they are angry, happy, flirty, or sad. Since scaled critters historically have feathers. Just an idea.

It's written on the concept that these are feathers (a special kind of feather filament), not actual hair.

Started working on a idea like that for a bit now. Been reading some good old 90's Goosebumps books. The one book "Calling All Creeps" spiked my interests. Purple alien lizards coming to earth to secretly change humans into their own kind with the help of "seeds" that get mixed into cookies and handed out to people which turns them into Creeps. Chocolate chip cookies to be exact as the seeds look just like the chocolate chips only a bit more purple and having yellow glowing ooze in them.
