I just discovered it, after thinking of this mode as a very useless scale. You can't still use it with that tonal strenght, but works nicely if used the right way. This is me playing my bass rubato, absolutely no audio processing, I'm kinda just recording my ideas down so I don't forget them. Should do that more, because I have a ton of good ideas, and have only used a few of them.
See how the diminished flat seventh chord becomes the tonic, and a beautiful one!
The trick to use this mode is to stick to the VII a lot and avoid staying too long at I or VI. I kinda did that mistake once here :P
