Alternate title: "In search of Coffee…"
Not your typical furry art, I know. But hey, it's got a dragon in it! No complaints!
These two are from a game I've been dreaming up for the past… year or so. Briefly put: the girl there is Nuril, and she's a Dragon Tamer. In this world dragons don't get on well with humans (they think we are petty, stupid, annoying and immoral and generally not worth noticing), but every so often a human will come along that a dragon just clicks with, and that's a Dragon Tamer. They don't tame dragons, really, they are just someone the dragon will talk to, and who can speak for the dragon. As far as the dragon is concerned, the tamer becomes a sort of extension of their own mind, and a lot of tamers end up being over-powered, personality wise, by their dragon. Nuril is a bit of an exception to this rule, as she can and will have her own opinions and even argue with "her" dragon. "Her" dragon (and he would argue she is his human, rather than the other way around) is called Armandoros, and he's very grouchy. But he likes Nuril, enough to let her on a pretty loose leash most of the time, and he puts up with the silly humans and their Quest to Save The World mostly for her sake.
He's not a morning person… er… dragon… and it's best not to bother him until he's had his coffee.
If you're interested in the game you can see more concept art and read about it here: http://agent-elrond.deviantart.com/gallery/#FEX
Watercolor on 12"x9" hot press watercolor paper with gouache touch-ups. Original will be going to the World Fantasy Convention Art Show. It's my first time in an art show, so I was wondering: what would you pay for this? (Let's assume you are a solvent art-collector with a taste for scaly things, for argument's sake, and because I need the ego-boost.)

Ooo, more beautiful watercolour art! :D The dragon's beard looks so nice, it's like a liana beard. ^^ I like how you've left the middle part of the paper empty and how you're added detailed background only to the borders. ;) It works well! Beautiful work as always!
I would be paying the same sum what Felspar did: 40$ or maybe 45$. :D It's really hard to price your own artwork because it's tightly binded to an amount of fame you have as an artist. :P (I hope I spelled that right...)

This is wonderful! And being a dragon myself ;) I wholly agree with the "needing coffee in the morning" part. (little known fact: Instead of drinking coffee in the mornings, I used to eat a couple handfuls of chocolate covered coffee beans...very tasty!)
As far as prices...since its on paper, I'd easily pay $40 for this. If it was on illustration board, say... $50-60. Canvas, I'd pay as much as $80. Actually, those are the prices I could afford. In reality, I'd be willing to pay more.

Wow, that's quite an idea for a game premise. I would definitely like to experience that. Done right, this could breathe much needed life into the fantasy genre, as well as rekindle some heart-felt story telling (something that should always be welcomed).
I really like the drawing as well. The style definitely resembles traditional orient; keeping the background minimal really helps keep it that way. Not overly detailed or cluttered, this is truly enjoyable.
Here's to hoping you can take this drawing and premise to a higher level.
