Hey everybody! It's been a bit (had some real life stuff come up and a few projects I tried to start stall out on me) but I'm back with some Halloween goodies for you all!
This was the big "Halloween Pic" I'd planned for this year so I hope you all enjoy it =3 I worked really hard on the picture and the story that goes with it. I hope to get a few more pictures done before October is over but if that falls through I think I can be satisfied with this one ^w^
Anyway please enjoy the return of Andrew and Jane's snorlax Aunt Vesta (who was introduced in story format in one of my Easter stories) AND the first appearance of their raichu Aunt Susie~ What is Aunt Susie like you wonder? Well read to find out~
"Oh you two are just TOO precious~! Don't you think it's precious Vesta~?"
"Y-yes it's precious… it MIGHT be a little much though…"
"Nonsense! Our sweet little niece and nephew deserve costumes as adorable and precious as they are! Anything less would be unthinkable! We already agree on that didn't we~? We did~"
"… fair enough, we did."
"Wonderful! Now then up against the wall sweeties~ I want a picture of the both of you before the fun starts! So we can ALWAYS remember how precious you look~ Ready~? Now smile~"
Andrew and Jane (twins and teens despite all outside appearances) pouted as the camera flashed, both wondering how exactly things spiraled to this point… even though they both knew the why, how, and most importantly the WHO well enough…
It's all started a couple days ago, less than a week before Halloween…
***********************
Andrew and Jane's family came in two distinct branches. Their mother's Chuuster family line, and their father's Baros family line. For the lack of a better word the Baros family line was the more unified one. A massive (in both senses of the word) enclave of Snorlax all living together in one large family compound, the Villa as they liked to call it. There was a lot of reasons the twins hated visiting them and neither had many good things to say about that side of the family (not helped by their father having a less than glowing opinion of them either)… but their aunt Vesta Baros was one of the few exceptions.
Which was why they were more than happy to have the massive snorlax over that afternoon visiting.
"You mean you still haven't found full-time employment?" Cassandra, the twins raichu mother, asked sympathetically as she poured tea into Vesta's cup. The snorlax thanking her and taking a sip before replying properly "Yes… my odd jobs are helping some but not enough… I really didn't want to trouble you with this though, since you already have so much on your plate…"
"Nonsense, we're family after all."
"Still… I was hoping to avoid having to ask and trouble you… but if you know anyone who might be hiring-"
Andrew and Jane just sat silently as the grown ups talked, well aware there wasn't anything constructive they could add to the discussion. Andrew's ears were drooping along with his frown as the pichu listened to Vesta's struggles. Meanwhile Jane's attempts to eat all the treats their mom set out to go with the tea had slowed considerably since the conversation had taken this bleak turn. Which, all things considered, was as close to a major reaction as the munchlax could give to the situation. There was nothing they could do… which left both wishing for some way to change the topic.
Knock! Knock knock knock! Knock! Knock knock knock! Knock!
Andrew nearly fell off the couch in surprise as Jane stopped mid bite to look up in confusion. "Oh? Were you expecting another visitor?" Vesta asked as Cassandra got up from her chair "No… but she tends to make her visit surprises." the raichu said, chuckling a little. "She…?" Andrew wasn't surprised by Aunt Vesta's confusion or question, the snorlax had never met her before, but there wasn't anybody else who could get to their front door and use that knocking pattern. Which left the twins with a quandary.
"Do we go meet Aunt Susie at the door and get it over with or let her come to us?"
"Chuuuuuu…."
Andrew answered his sister's question by hopping off the couch and following behind their mother towards the front door. Jane, after grabbing a few more snacks and shoving them fist first into her mouth, followed after him. A very confused Vesta tailing them asking "Aunt Susie?" aloud as the knocking continued. The twins stared at the front double doors (a necessity for any house snorlax frequent) in trepidation as their mother unlocked them and-
Didn't bother even reaching for the doorknob as they were pulled open and flung wide like always as Aunt Susie stood there, loud and large as ever. The chubby raichu was actually a bit shorter than their mom (who was tall for a raichu) but she made up for it with everything else. Her loud tacky dress, her loud gaudy earrings, her loud make-up, everything. Oh and of course they couldn't forget-
"Cassandra! Darling! It's been too long!" her loud voice as Aunt Susie threw her arms around their mom and hugged her, the chubbier raichu's exceptionally long tail (a common Chuuster family trait that cropped up when they evolved) snaking around her for good measure. "Hello Susie, it's been a while." their mother didn't have to force a smile, Susie was family after all, as she hugged their aunt back "What brings you-"
"And THERE'S the precious little sweeties! Your auntie missed you! Come here my precious little ones!" and she'd already move on to her next target. Andrew winced internally as she approached and he could hear Jane scooting back a little… but there was no escaping. He was first as she took hold of his chubby cheeks and cooed at him, commenting on how big he'd gotten and how he was still adorable… then proceeded to unleash kissy hell on his face, her thick layer of lipstick leaving bright pink kissy marks each time. He could hear her doing the same to Jane even as he furiously and futilely tried to rub the marks off his cheeks and forehead.
This was, unfortunately, par for the course when it came to Aunt Susie. She was-
"Oh, hello there~ I don't think we've formally met~" the chubby raichu crooned. Jane furiously trying to rub the kissy marks off her face as Susie stepped over to Vesta. "Oh, no we haven't. It's nice to meet you, I'm-" the snorlax started to say before Susie cut in "Vesta maybe~?" she asked, chuckling at the dumbfounded look on the massive woman's face. "Guessing I'm right then~? Don't look so surprised dear, you might have been mentioned once or twice when I coaxed Andrew and Jane to talk about their daddy's family~ They think the world of you you know, especially compared to your other relatives… so now tell me, what are you doing away from the Baros Villa~? Or would you rather I try and guess~?"
"N-no, if it's okay I'd rather you'd not." Vesta quickly said, regaining her composure "I-I'm glad Andrew and Jane have mentioned me- " she didn't bother to hide her happy smile over that "did they also mention my… status back at the Villa?" The raichu pursed her lips "No need to be so polite about it Vesta dear, they said you were a member of the branch family. And while Jane had some… colorful language for her other aunts both of them mentioned how nice you were and how they treated you like a slave-" she stopped short and her lips spread into a mischievous smile "you've run away from the Villa and are trying to start a new life, right~?"
"W-well yes but this is h-hardly a topic to discuss with someone I haven't even been introduced to!" Vesta stuttered out, massive cheeks flushed pink at her situation being described so bluntly. "R-right!" the twins watched their mother try to cut in to help the situation from getting tense "Vesta this is-"
And she was utterly ignored "I am Susanne Chuuster~ Official gossip monger and fixer for the Chuuster family!" Aunt Susie declared, striking a dramatic pose and making her chubby form shake a little. Even Jane shifted awkwardly in the pause that followed that little stunt. "Um… n-nice to meet you Susanne-" Vesta was once again cut off as the chubby raichu wave one hand dismissively "Tut tut tut please, call me Susie~ We ARE family after all, aren't we?" she asked, as Vesta opted not to answer and just waited for her to continue. Sure enough she did not one second later.
"Of course we are! Now tell me dear, how is Viridian treating you~? Did you find a decent place to stay, to work? Tell me, do you need any help at all~?" she asked, grinning and finally looking like she was willing to let Vesta answer. "Y-yes but… how… we were… just now… what!?" Vesta finally just blurted out, looking to Cassandra for some kind of explanation. Cassandra, who'd gone and fetched a warm washcloth and was trying to get the kissy marks off the cheeks of her squirming children, just shrugged "Susie asks any family member who just moved about that, she's the family fix-"
"Fixer~ I think I mentioned it already actually~" the aunt in question cut in as Cassandra rolled her eyes and went back to scrubbing her kids cheeks. "You see Vesta, I might not look it but I've lived in major cities in multiple regions… and I've made and kept a few contacts from those times~" Susie all but purred, tracing her fingers in the air for emphasis "And I make it MY business, you see, to see that if any member of my family moves to one of those cities I USE those connections to help them have an easier time at it~" Grinning broadly she clapped her hands together, "In fact that's actually a big part of why I'm visiting Viridian you know~ Did you hear~? The family has some new PCA students joining our precious little Andrew and Jane, sweet and shy Ashley, and our dear dignified Georgia very soon!"
"Yes actually, Cassandra mentioned tha-"
"Wonderful! Well you see, while a few of them already have accommodations set up… there are several more searching for cheap, affordable apartments while they're here… which is where I step in~!" Susie all but trilled happily, her tail swishing eagerly behind her "So if you're having some problems getting settled in then I would like… no! I INSIST you let me see if I can help! Is that alright with you dear~?" she finally finished, smiling broadly and waiting for a response. Vesta looked around the room for a moment before letting out a deep sigh "Well… this… this was a bit unexpected and overwhelming… but i was just here to bother Cassandra for some help-" the snorlax gave Susie a slightly embarrassed smile and shrug "so it'd be a bit silly to turn down your help, so yes. Thank you Susie, I'd appreciate any help you can give me."
"Wonderful! Simply wonderful!" Susie chirped happily, taking hold of Vesta's massive hands with her considerably smaller paws "I can't wait to get started~! Now then, any questions about how I work~? Anything you'd like to know~?" Vesta considered the questions, then chuckled "Actually… yes, just how many relatives are we expecting~? I already promised to help with Thanksgiving dinner so I'm a bit curious~" Susie looked surprised for a moment, then burst out laughing. "Excellent question! Well let's see, there's the siblings, our lovely island relatives, our honorary relative fresh from the circus… at least five extra spaces at the table, give or take~"
"Just five? Shouldn't be too rough then, considering I had to help with the cooking back at the Villa~ Doubt any of them can require as much food compared to a pack of hungry snorlax~"
"No I would think not~ But that wasn't ALL I came here for~ Oh no no! I felt this was a PERFECT opportunity to give my most precious little niece and nephew a gift or two… especially since I'll be staying all the way through Halloween~"
"Oh no. Please. It's fine, really. Don't worry about us." Jane quickly said, her deadpan tone taking on a slight edge of fear. Andrew meanwhile stood rooted to the spot like a stantler in the headlights. Both of them knew EXACTLY what presents from Aunt Susie meant even as they watched the raichu sashayed over to the doors and retrieved the box she'd left outside so she could focus on properly greeting her relatives first. The twins eyed it like it was about to sprout fangs and attack them as it was brought in.
"Nonsense! What kind of aunt would I be if I didn't bring a few gifts for my precious little relatives~"
Both tiny teenagers winced, expecting the worst, as the box was opened and Susie rummaged around in it and pulled out… two small cases? They looked like the kind of boxes jewelry would come in and were small enough she could easily hold one in each hand. Still half expecting a trap they didn't get any closer so she instead held them out to the pichu and munchlax. Gracefully popping the latches on both boxes at once Susie smiled as they opened up… and her little nephew and nieces jaws DROPPED. Their mother and Vesta hurried over to see what the fuss was about… and joined the little ones in staring with opened mouth shock. Vesta was the first recover enough to speak.
"I… I'm no expert on it… b-but… those are Z Crystals, aren't they?"
And that comment was enough for everybody else to start talking at once.
"Chuuuuuuu!"
"Huh. This… wasn't what I expected. Thank you Aunt Susie?"
"Susie how in the world did you get these? I mean… you can only get them in Alola and even then they're so very expensive that-"
The chubby raichu responded with a big belly laugh and grin "Go on, pick them up sweeties~ Take a look, they're the real deal~" she coaxed, shaking the boxes a little. After another moment or two of awe Andrew and Jane picked up the yellow and white crystals. Andrew was almost reverently holding his Electrium Z with trembling paws as if terrified he'd break it while Jane held her Normalium Z up to the light with one hand, squinting at it to try and see the design in the center. "Pretty, aren't they~? But they're more than shiny little baubles as I'm sure you know~" Susie said, giggling a little to herself "Oh, since you asked Cassandra I got then in Alola of course~ A few of my connections were able to get them for me~"
Handing the boxes to the twins' stunned mother Susie struck a thoughtful pose, placing a hand to her chin "I just thought it'd be a nice little gift for my precious little battling babies~ I mean, they ARE growing up and in the world famous PCA after all~ I'm sure they'll be able to get SOME use out of them…" she giggled again, covering her mouth a little as she did so and utterly fading to hide her grin "Just don't expect me to show you those… charming poses that make them work, a lady has to have standards after all~" she finished, beaming down at the two.
"T-th-thank y-you a-aunt Susie, chuuuuuu…" Andrew stuttered out, hugging the crystal close "I… I d-don't know, chuuuu, w-what to say… I… I'll d-definitely t-try and u-use it, chuuuuu…" the small pichu was visibly overwhelmed with the gift. Meanwhile his sister was not quite as emotional, as per usual for her. "Thanks Aunt Susie. I'll figure out some way to use it… I think." Jane said, stowing the crystal in her pocket "Sure somebody at school knows how these things work. That all you brought for us then?" she added, a tinge of hope in her usual deadpan.
"Aaaaaactually~"
And Jane actually winced and looked like she was groaning at hearing that comment as Susie reached back into the box. "I have the Z Rings that go with those somewhere in here too~!" the raichu cooed, digging around as the twins let out an unrestrained sigh of relief. "Oh, and your Halloween costumes~ Found the MOST precious little costumes for my precious little dears and just HAD to get them~ No need to thank me for it, just let me take you trick-or-treating~" she added quickly, not giving either twin time to recover or brace themselves as she suddenly whipped out two outfits and laid the various pieces out in front of them. Cassandra had to cover her mouth to try and hide her smile at what she saw, Vesta wasn't nearly as restrained as her look of surprised quickly turned into cooing and giggling.
As for the twins?
They got their first Halloween scare of this year~
*********************
Now it was a bit of a toss up on how their Chuuster relatives treated Andrew and Jane. Some of them tried to treat them like teens despite their appearance, some of them couldn't help but baby them a little despite knowing they were teens, and some of them made sure they always sat at the kiddie table and would hear no arguments about it. Aunt Susie wasn't as bad as that last option… but she certainly babied them more than a little. She'd always insist that, since they were little and adorable, they should do their best to get the most mileage out of that while they could…
This unfortunately usually amounted to toddler clothes. Even with that in mind, though, the outfits she pulled out of the box were a step beyond her usual gifts. It was fairly obvious which outfit was for whom as she pulled the costume pieces out and laid them before the twins. Andrew couldn't help but appreciate how she'd somehow found an outfit that'd make him look closer to 14 months rather than 14 years… and the fact the orange pants, if they could even be called that, were somehow puffy enough to maintain their shape all on their own.
Jane meanwhile managed to pull off a genuine look of disgust and fear as Aunt Susie pulled the dress out. There were few things Jane hated more than dresses, her relatives at the Baros Villa insisting she wear them while visiting over the years making this even worse. So the sparkly, glittery thing was a very unwelcome sight… and the rustling, crinkling noise it made with every little motion was an equally unwelcome sound. If these kind of things had come from the Baros side of the family the twins would have at least tried to squirm their way out of it… but the Chuuster side of the family was a different matter since the twins genuinely liked them. Not only that but the costumes were gifts… unwelcome and unwanted ones, but gifts all the same. So they'd have to wear them.
Then the whole "trying them on" step that followed the costumes' reveal had also uncovered another little surprise, much to the twins' dismay…
***************************
"Okay darlings, one more photo and then we'll be on our way~ Oh! Do you have the bag ready Vesta~?"
"Yes, I've got it right here… um… a-are you sure this is necessary? The costumes are one thing… but-"
"Tut tut, we all agreed didn't we~? There is simply no way we could find a restroom in time AND get little Andrew out of his costume in time, diapers were the reasonable choice~ Besides, the little sweetie's pumpkin pants ALREADY make him waddle oh so preciously~ No one will notice~"
"Well, I don't know about that… and I mean we DID agree, but Jane-"
"She asked to be in diapers too if her brother was, so it's fine~ She's a sweet girl not wanting her big brother to be alone in that~ So we simply must bring along some changing supplies for them… and a change or two of clothes JUST in case~"
"Alright, fair enough. Oh and thanks for letting me take them trick-or-treating with you."
"Nonsense! You're their aunt same as me Vesta~ You have as much right to this as I do~ Oh and don't worry, I think I have a newer, cheaper apartment that better fits a woman of your stature all lined up for you~"
"Once again, thank you for your help Susie-"
Andrew and Jane just stood there, listening to their aunts talk over them and squirming both from embarrassment and discomfort in their costumes. The fact the crinkling and rustling didn't all come from Jane's dress didn't help matters. Their mother had assured them they'd probably get twice as much candy as normal going like this… but that didn't change the fact it was going to be a loooooong Halloween.
"Alright my little darlings, we're off~! Oh! And dooooon't forget to hold hands now sweeties~"
"Why do they need to do that? They shouldn't get lost, not with those outfits slowing them down…"
"Because it's absolutely adorable~"
"… can't argue there~"
Andrew and Jane just grooooooaned as they complied. It was gonna be a really, REALLY long Halloween…
The End~
Feel free to imagine what the ensuing adorable and cushie trick-or-treat trip was like for Andrew & Jane, all with their loving aunts watching over them~

The End~
