You only have to deal with the piano ONCE, unlike UNAGI where there are missions where you have to either avoid him or he's the objective. And they knew he was freaky because the first two missions involve the eel, they require you to get up in it's grill and it is SCARY.
Yeah. I bet it was hard to judge the trigger for how to get him swimming out of his place too. And then you have to touch his darn tail for one mission!
I think the eel also came back for the underwater stages in the New Super Mario Brothers games as well. They gotta learn when to put that thing away...
