I've been having a bit of a conundrum regarding my online representation. The thing that troubles me currently is how it really doesn't have any meaningful properties to it beyond "uwu it fluffy and warm". There's very little...."me" to it.
I recall someone mentioning how they find it cool if they can tell a person in real life by their fursona. But I already tried that and there's just....an intense screaming discomfort to the idea of a 1:1 visual representation of me??
But what about fursona-as-an-ideal, as an aspiration? No, dishonest, growls my subsconcious. And this isn't meant as a dig in the direction of the those with ultrafit or otherwise fantastical fursonas, this is just my particular mind yelling rude things at me.
So, what? That kinda leaves me at a damned if I don't, damned if I do position with the current design and any possible fursona redesigns.

Things is, I don't want a character.....I want me. I already have an abundance of characters, but I want something that represents me, my desires and affinities, something with which to interact with others. But......I also sort of can't. There's a reason it still stands in my bio "An abstract e-entity" because I don't have a more solid self-representation, a more solid self-understanding
A fursona doesn't have to be either a 1:1 representation of yourself or a generic cute animal. There's a middle ground.
Since my guess as to why you're averse to a 1:1 representation is that you're not comfortable with some of your own traits (please correct me if I'm wrong), why not just include the ones you're fond of? I don't think it's dishonest or even fursona-as-an-ideal, in your words, to exclude your negative qualities. If people want to see you as a whole, they can meet you in real life.
In the end, I wouldn't take it so seriously. I love your current fursona, but if you think it needs some changes, just keep it simple and fun. That's the most important part; it should be fun and something you enjoy creating.

Nobody's saying you have to get it right the first time, and it's not like there's rules about what your fursona HAS to be, or else face being banned from life. Or if there are, I missed when they were giving those notes out.
Nothing wrong with redesigning your online representation if you're not pleased with it, and even a drastic change is OK if it's what you want. It's your representation. Render it and use it as YOU want.
