Agony was too kind of a word to describe it; it was suffering in its purest, most unadulterated form, and it currently was tearing away at Nemui’s very being. Her ears were filled with the howling of interdimensional winds and the slashing of crystal through the air, mingled with her own screams of torment. Her core was cracking- the very gem that held her being shattering beneath her scrabbling fingers as she desperately attempted to force the broken pieces back into position. It was useless, but as the winds grew louder and the Ursine’s very being threatened to be ripped asunder in this tempest, she was desperate for any relief.
She had failed. A being who had counted upon her, begged for her, was now lost in the trepids of the nightmares they found themselves within. She was a failure. A guardian of Life who had failed to safeguard the life of one she had protected. Damned, was she. Damned if she was worthy to fight and protect in the name of the stars. How dare she claim to be able to save the lost when she cannot even save herself from the storm within her?!
It was a hard blow, one that Nemui had experienced before, but it was one experience too many for an ever growing fracture in her will. A golden gaze pierced from the howling winds. Two, blindingly golden globes alight with celestial energy. Two, silently screaming stars stared sightlessly into the ceaseless storm. Crystallized tears decorated these orbs, frozen solid by the tempest, capturing them in a permanent state of suspension – never to fall, only to melt. The bear’s eyes were like twin lighthouses in the maelstrom of her torment- a desperate cry of help, and a warning of the destruction to come. Nemui fell to her knees as he screams grew louder and louder, only to be lost in the winds of oblivion.
The ursine did not feel the hands that grasped over her own nor a voice shouting in the storm. To the shattered Dreamwalker, she was alone.
