25 years ago, a talented wrester known as Horus was one of the founding members of the IAWF. Now, Horus continues performing, looking younger than ever and slightly shorter. How is this possible? Well, this is because there have been two men who've played this role, a father and son.
The original Horus was Ahmed Ghanem. Debuting a few years before the IAWF was formed, his gimmick as Horus was that he was indeed the Egyptian god, and that what the crowd was seeing was in fact his current reincarnation finding new ways to kill time and stop evil in the modern world. After Ahmed retired from the role at 55, Horus suddenly returned five years later, making an unexpected entrance to a tag match, much to the crowd's delight.
This new Horus is the original's son, Hamadi. Taking up the role at 23, Hamadi turned out to have been trained well for this. "Horus" exposited that he'd been granted youth by Ra as a reward for his deeds, thus dashing any possible plot holes regarding his appearance.
Now 65 and 28 respectively, Ahmed and Hamadi are happy to have set into motion such a beloved legacy character within the IAWF. Both now work together to train more new hopefuls wanting to represent Egypt in the wrestling circuit, including Hamadi's own son, who even at his young age wants to be Horus III!
