Homecoming ~Morenatsu Revisited~ October 2018 Project Upd...
Hey guys!
I know it's been a while since I last made an update on Homecoming, but rest assured we're still making progress!
Today marks the one year anniversary of Revisited's original release. The project has come a long way from it's humble origins, and I know I say this often but I'm truly humbled by how warm the reception has been over time. You guys are the best! Knowing that there's a large portion of the community rooting for our success is one of the major things that keeps us going. While I don't have a demo that's in a state I'd consider worthy of release, I made sure to include with this journal a preview of some of the new sprites.
I'll be the first to say that while I'm pleased with the progress Homecoming's made, there is a lot more to do and cover than I initially believed. I knew it wouldn't be a good idea to promise any release dates, and I'm glad I had the foresight to do that because I know if I had set more strict deadlines I would have likely pulled my hair out in frustration, haha!
We at Stormsinger Studios are committed to developing Homecoming to be the best game it can be, and we thank you for your patience as we work our way through the process. I can promise you this: It'll be worth the wait.
Now for the second half of this journal. In order to speed up the pace in terms of art and sprites, we have opened up our team to another artist. Please give a warm welcome to our secondary artist, the incredibly talented HypoNova! The Torahiko and Juuichi sprites shown in the preview image were drawn by him, and the Soutarou sprite was drawn by our art director Devilizer. Our hope is that adding a second artist to help us with the sprites will get us through the large volume of art needed to make Homecoming the best it can be.
If you want to check out some of Nova's other works, consider following him on Twitter:

One thing that I want to acknowledge here while I have the chance is the status of the backgrounds. Long story short, I wasn't satisfied with the quality I was putting out, so I decided to step away from that aspect of the project, allowing Devilizer and HypoNova to take over. However, given the amount of art that needs to be done (sprites, CGs, UI elements, backgrounds, etc,.), we feel that in order to keep things moving at a good pace we're going to have to open the art team up again.
As of this journal, we're formally accepting submissions for volunteer background artists to join the Homecoming team! If you or someone you know has an interest, please be sure to consider applying!
*** (Please note, this is not a paid project! We are a team of volunteers, so please keep that in mind before sending in an application) ***
At the moment our goal is to bring in a background artist to draw the indoor environments of Minasato, since those have been hands down the hardest elements to find free to use images for. If you're interested, please send an application email to stormsingerstudios[at]gmail.com with a short description about yourself and a link to your preferred art profile. Ideally, also send in some samples of your background work with the email. Thank you!
If you have any other questions, you can send either me or Devilizer a note here on FurAffinity.
With that, I think I've covered everything I wanted to! Thank you guys again for being patient with the development of Homecoming! Everything's coming along splendidly, even if it's taking longer than I anticipated.
See you in the next update!

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for not commenting on any of this especially since I really enjoyed the added route in the last release you had. Let’s just say my life has not been going so well and leave it at that.
Secondly, HOLY CRAP THIS ARTWORK IS GORGEOUS. I mean everyone looked great before, but man have you guys improved since then.
I really hope you’ll release a new version soon cause I’d to see how this is going.
Till next time!

*Palpatine voice* "Goood, gooood...." NO seriously the updated Juuichi sprite and Torahiko sprites look great. As much as I love Tora, being a swimmer He would sink like rock they way He's depicted in the original game lol. TL;Dr the more "realistic" depictions retain the characters personality and charm. One thing I wonder though, with how much the art has grown, are there going to be new artworks for the CG's too? Or will the ones already used in Revisited stay?
NO worries man! The main reason I asked is because I've noticed recently (Please don't take offense) Your lined work in your sprites is on point. It shows off your skill and gives your art a very nice...snap? Oomf? I'd like to see more work from you like that in general. The lineless, more painterly work did not showcase your art like your lined stuff does. You're a good artist IMO so keep up the good work, Morenatsu related or otherwise XD
Given the nature of our development schedule, the best we can do is one update per month. We're all volunteers and work on this at different times, so keeping everything too strict would actually harm the project more than help it ^^'
Regardless, I'm gonna do my best to make sure everyone's kept up to speed with Homecoming's development at least once per month.

Honestly, everyone hating on this just come across as spiteful.
I really like the design of Torahiko here, he actually looks like a swimmer, I'm excited to see how you take on Shun & Kouya's routes, A big issue i had with Kouya's route for me was... How he made so many stupid decisions and did seem angry a lot, So part of me hopes him & his dad have a better relationship and Kouya isn't as much of a ice-king and does care for all his friends.

Thank you!
I've rewritten most of Kouya's route, so he has a different arc from the original game (though it retains a lot of the same elements, just portrayed differently). His route is one of the one's I'm cautiously optimistic about showing, since I know a lot of people are in love with the character and I did some pretty fundamental changes to the way everything comes together by the end. We'll see how it goes, though!

The biggest issue in having two different artists is that the sprites don't have the same art style between them. I hope that by the final release, it's all redrawn by one artist so it all have the same art style. Till then, It's easier to forgive the fact that it's drawn by multiple artists.
Whew comments are broken right now, nothing seems to want to post. Anyways! Yo! hope y'all are having fun developing this game, It sure as hell made me happy. Love Torahiko's new design but I think the bright colors he originally had added to his energetic personality. With that being said have a good day <3
Would it be too much to ask if you can put the "revisited" songs in a folder inside the compressed file next update? mp3 or wav does not matter, I really like the songs that your music artist created, they are really good! it would be amazing if you could do it
Thanks!!! keep the good work!!! all of you are amazing!!!

despite all the hate about the changes (mostly the art) for the game, its not all too bad really tbh. some people aren't a big fan change so yea i can see why some aren't fans of this one. it's also a good thing they all look like their age now, torahiko actually looks like a swimmer now compared to the more bulky torahiko in the original. the only thing about the art is that the anatomy isn't not good, but its not bad either, basically its alright but just some fixes with the anatomy and it'll look better! many people preferred the original sprites due to the more cartoony/exaggerated and "shounen/shojo"-ish style and tbh i preferred it too, but even the original's art isn't perfect either, suffered mostly from character design making them look either younger or older for their age (tho for juuichi can maybe stay that away, even in canon it was said that he looker way older for his age) and when it came to shading, head anatomy and color choice, its not the best either. i also like how the backgrounds are actually painted compared to the bandicam looking backgrounds from the original! it was hard to immerse into the game where they were at because whenever the background changes, its as if they went somewhere completely elsewhere! but anyways nice effort there for the game! hope it gets better!
The easy answer is this: Not all characters had content, and therefore, it would have looked too different with CGs for them. In addition, there are other characters. To make it more streamlined, we changed the sprites. As for the backgrounds, again, this is because there are added areas, and we wanted to keep a level of consistency. Also, some of the original backgrounds had some issues when upscaled.
