Technically ALL Pokemon are data, otherwise they couldn't be stored via PC or stored in a capsule. xD That's when you realize how similar they are to Digimon.

Digimon were a spinoff I think, but Pokemon are generally regarded as living, organic creatures.

Except Porygon.

Actually they were both out in Japan at similar times, but not in a way that suggests one was a spinoff of the other.
Even so, Pokemon are converted into data when they go in the PC, even if they're alive outside it. xD I like Porygon, but like the evolutions even more.

Actually, the pokemon are transported to another location for storage and the PC is the interface that allows you to "withdraw/deposit" which ever pokemon you want. Just like in the Anime

I could've sworn Red/Blue stated that the pokeballs convert the living beings to/from data (which is how they can be stored/transferred, and how you can find pokeballs laying around that contain items)...

...But that always made me wonder, if you took apart a pokeball and disabled the safeties that keep it from "capturing" a human... What happens? And what happens if you start altering the data on the computer? ^_^ (Not to mention the brainwashing that forces newly-caught creatures to start obeying their Trainer's commands...)
