Thoral was about to turn 18 and thus entering adulthood, something that made him overly excited, not necessarily because of all the “naughty” adult things he would be allowed to do – he wasn’t really interested in that anyway as he was more busy with practicing magic anyway at the moment - but because it would mean he would go on a journey beforehand to see and learn more about the World and its customs.
Naturally as parents, King Asyr and Prince Night were however worried to send him on the journey alone. They were relieved when Thoral asked his Brother Jorun, as well as his Half-Brother Darius do accompany him on the journey, which the two accepted as they knew how odd, overwhelming and sometimes dangerous the outside world could be – and most of all unlike the two, Thoral wasn’t a fighter.
The Three Brothers eventually left, walking, talking, making jokes and meeting people here and there along the way. Eventually the night came with the three standing on a open field about to set up camp for the night. Thoral rested on the ground, with his light spell he had casted slowly but steady dimming away. The young tiger took in the sight of the mountains in the distance, the two moons high in the sky, filled with stars.
“Are you alright?” Darius asked.
“Yeah… yeah it’s just… I can’t wait for tomorrow”, Thoral replied, with Jorun next to him smiling and letting out a chuckle.
This pic and the accompanying short story was a lovely gift by my good friend
Lyk, who drew this for
dream_and_nightmare and me.
Remember the two young tigers he once drew as Night's and Asyr's sons? Well, they're back... and a little more grownup now, transported to the fantasy world of barbarian king Asyr and joined by their half-brother Darius, whom Asyr had conceived with Lyk's character Jake.
I really love the design of these three young men and it gives me ideas how to incorporate them into a bigger fantasy world.
