The Therapist
Chandra smiled at the man walking into her office, “Hello again, Mr. Jaxson. How are you this month?”
Mr. Jaxson rolled his eyes, “The way this week has been going, I'm surprised I haven't offed myself yet.” Chandra heard his thoughts before he even sat down, “Well Dr. Celeste, I am over this week. My girlfriend of seven years broke up with me, my company is downsizing, so I didn't make the cut and got laid off, AND my car broke down on me last week.” he let out everything that was bothering him.
“Oh my, that's awful.” Chandra leaned forward in her chair as she made notes on her tablet. “I remember you told me last month that you and your girlfriend were having problems that y'all were trying to work through, do you want to talk about that and maybe see what could have helped?” She asked trying to read what Mr. Jaxson was thinking about.
Mr. Jaxson was silent, with tears brimming in his eyes, “That's not really what I want to talk about right now...I just want to cry and have someone there...”
Chandra smiled softly, “If you don't want to talk about it, it is okay too, we can just sit here until you're ready. Okay?” She offered him the box of tissues on the table next to them.
He took them and nodded softly, the rest of the hour, he cried softly as Chandra sat there silently, “Dr. Celeste always knows what I need. I may need to come here more, she'll keep me out of the dark.”
Mr. Jaxson looked at his watch as he wiped his eyes, “Wow already been an hour, I'm sorry I wasted your time.”
“You're not wasting my time, Mr. Jaxson, I thought you needed to get your feelings out and I'm just here to help you.” Chandra smiled sweetly, “Everything will work out soon enough. If you ever need to come here more often, just talk to Xeraya, she will help you fix your scheduling.”
Mr. Jaxson smiled and nodded, “Yea..I'll talk to her, thank you.” he said sincerely as we both walked to the door.
“Have a good rest of your day and don't hesitate to contact me if you need something.” Chandra gave him her card with contact information on it.
Mr. Jaxson took the card and thanked her as he left to talk to Xeraya. Chandra tidied up her office before her next client comes in. He was a new one according to Xeraya, so she didn't know what to expect from him.
“Chand, Mr. Jaxson has fixed his schedule to come every week.” Xeraya announced as she silently walked into the office.
“Okay, Xeraya thank you. I see you been working on your barricade” Chandra smiled as she tried to listen to Xeraya's thoughts.
“I have, cause I know you can hear mine when trying to help your clients so I practiced more.” Xeraya nodded, “Your new client should be here in about five minutes, his appointment is at three.”
“You're doing great.” Chandra praised her friend, “But alright, thanks for the heads-up.”
Xeraya walked out, leaving the door open behind her as Chandra sat at her chair and opened a new document on her tablet in preparation for the next client.
Xeraya led a young man to her office and with a light knock, “Dr. Celeste, Mr. Evelonge is here.” she waved him in and lightly shut the door.
Chandra tried to listen to Mr. Evelonge's thoughts as to why he is here and how Chandra can try to start helping but, she couldn't hear anything. “Hello, Mr. Evelonge, I'm Dr. Celeste, how are you today?” Chandra slipped into her doctor mode. The young man didn't say anything, “Okay, if you don't want to talk just yet, that's okay.” Chandra smiled warmly, trying to make Mr. Evelonge feel more comfortable.
She tried to listen to his thoughts again but still silence, “I know what you are, and what you're trying to do, Miss Celeste. I can feel your mind's fingers snaking around in there.” he smirked, Chandra looked at the man confused, “Now don't be like that dear, you don't you recognize me, my betrothed?” Characters belong to
