Sorry, this is another non-furry art, but most of my works are now that.
I adore Doppelganger Arle, about as much as Ringo, really, but for very different reasons. While Ringo I love because of her personality and her humour, I love Doppel because I think she's a really interesting villain with a good (and rather untold) backstory, along with the fact that she along with Satan/the Dark Prince, know what went down in their previous world.
Completely no-nonsense a bit like Schezo, without any of the humour and you know what? I'm fine with that. Kid Icarus: Uprising had a similar character, Medusa. The only no-nonsense character in a world of dorks.
Like I said, Doppel has a backstory, but it's not really explained within the context of her home game, Puyo Puyo~n.
-Spoilers ahead!-
In short, in the old world, Arle defeated the Creator in a dying world, and after, Arle's soul got shattered. Satan went to create a new world which is where Puyo 1-4 take place. When Satan tried to retrieve Arle, he only restored half of her.
The rest of her? Lost to the void... for 500 years. This Arle would be known as Doppelganger Arle.
Doppel's already lost everyone she ever loved and when she was able to escape the void, she found out the other half of herself is living a normal carefree life and Doppel hated that, planning to outright kill this Arle to replace her.
Unfortunately, this plan fell through and once she was defeated, she vanished due to Satan's rule that no two same unique people can exist in the same realm. Thus, Doppel was kicked out.
-Spoilers end here!-
You can find more detail of Shin Madou timeline right here and it's mostly canonically correct (what's made up is mostly just filling the gaps): http://puyopuyouniverse.proboards.c.....madou-timeline
Doppelganger Arle has reappeared in a few other games, but as far as I'm aware, they're all non-canon.
If Sega decide to bring her back in a main line game (with story reasons), she MUST be no-nonsense and written (at least fairly) well. That's just me.
Now, on to the actual picture after all that rambling.
These pictures are heavily inspired by the horror game, Pocket Mirror. Specifically Lisette's good ending. All the way down to the shards in the foreground.
The actual setting besides it being based on the ending of Puyo Puyo~n, it was basically me wondering if the ending was extended because it was so short. Not only that, but the over arcing story of Puyo~n barely features Doppel or Pierrot, adding to lack of knowledge on Doppel by the end.
These pictures are just a what-if scenario. What if we got more time to learn about Doppel during the events of the game? Would there be a chance Arle would try to comfort this other Arle before she disappears and dies (never mind if it works or not)?
Those are the kinds of questions that circled around my head and I know that I'm not the only one who has had similar thoughts.
The version of Doppelganger Arle I'm using here is her Dusklight version found in Puyo Puyo Quest and looks freaking awesome!
