My rainbow lorikeet NC seems to have picked up a new word (I blame the teenagers next door).

Image is hilarious. He's so proud.
Sucks though when they pick up a word and don't forget EVAR.

Actually there are ways to train them out of it. NC used to say "shit" around a year ago, if you choose a word that sounds very similar and directly resond with it whenever they say the offending word it can be trained out. He says "ship" now.
Issue with NC, is he can hear a word twice and start to jumble it into his constant daily babble >:/

I was wondering if you could get him to say a similar sounding word.
My parent's cockatoo learned my name and the only time he ever said it was when I was at my parents. I left for a year as soon as I walked through the door and said hi to my parents. "ERIN!" chimed from the other room.

Rainbows can, moreso the males. The thing with them is while they can speak, its not as clear as some other parrots. I can understand him cause ive been around him for years and train him. Others may not catch onto some of his rambleings if he speaks too fast the first time (blissfully XD)
I understand what you mean. My b/f's cockatiel says 'hello petery' although he doesn't actually say it, but he makes the sounds of how it's said, so you don't know what it is unless you've heard someone actually say it to him. It's the cutest thing though. How long have you had your rainbow? Are they playful, they seem like they would be very playful.
One time when I was seven and living in Panama, I was looking at this big cage full of about two dozen yellow parrots. They all said stuff like "Hola" and "Gracias" and other spanish phrases. Right then I burped, and the whole cage went into a chorus of belching parrots.
are you sure your bird didn't watch this little video? http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1799271
