Custom Kima Doll
So I have just recently decided to get back into sculpting and some of the other fine crafts out there again!
I just so happens that taking a little time in between commissions to sculpt or craft something has been improving my over all mood and given me a little more variety.
While sketching, painting, and illustration will always be my favorite thing, only doing the 2D art work for so long gets tiring. I find myself losing motivation, getting art block, and burning out my hand extremely quickly when I'm not mixing it up and taking on some other, more tangible projects.
My collection of supplies for this doll has been accumulated over the last few months, so now that I've got everything I can just GOGOGO OwO *excited jaguar noises*
So for the next set of details I plan to focus on making her some ears, a scalp for some hair implants, and sculpting her some front paws.
I am so excited to be working on this finally!!!!

Yeah I'm trying to get my head wrapped around streaming. I have friends that stream, and I appreciate their guidance, but I've been overwhelmed thinking there are so many steps before I can actually stream (adjusting cam and stream settings, making a border, creating and posting ads and journals)
I might feel a little strange being on camera while I work, but maybe I can get the camera perched in the right spot.

You are very welcome! I think it is always good to take a break from paper and working on something tridimensional, it helps putting things in perspective XD. I recall when I was doing wood work, it was tons of fun but terrible for my tendinitis XD.
:O But it already looks so perfect, can't wait to see which kind of magic you'll do ^^;, it will be fun to see how you'll handle soft materials, I heard they can be quite troublesome. Wish you the best of luck =).

Definitely better to also have all those other perspectives for shape study :D sorry to hear you couldn't keep doing wood work
I want to add the ears so bad xD I'm still brainstorming about structure so that I can make them more pose able. Maybe I'll use jewelry wire around the rim??

Yes, and once you finish your doll, you'll have a perfect reference for drawing your character on all the crazy fun poses :D. Don't worry, I can still do wood work, I just need to be more careful and not exaggerate. Last time I had a tendinitis crisis was because I spent 9 hours carving a life sized wooden sword nonstop. I kinda deserved to feel some pain after that XD.
I think the wire would work well, it would give you plenty of freedom to play with poses and expressions. You'll just need something soft and resistant to cover the wire ^^;.
Having fun is the most important part, please keep up with the awesome work, and let us all know how it goes =)

That's actually one reason I wanted to make it. I want to get everything, down to all my squishy anatomy, lookin right so that it is accurate when I use it in photographs or as reference. MY GOODNESS 9 hours is quite a lot of time to be carving. Nah you didn't deserve it xD but passion and pain tend to go hand in hand sometimes.
Okay I'll give it a go. I'm thinking fleece so it feels like shorter fur, and maybe felt for structure. I'll probably sew a teeny sleeve for the wire to sit in.

I am sure that you'll be able to get it done at your own pace, try not to rush things so you'll have time to spot possible mistakes along the way =).

It's crazy how wrapped up we can get in a project once we achieve a certain level of focus. I've found that the more passionate I am about something the less aware I am of the world or my physical form.

hi, be careful with the hinges, they are very fragile from contact with light, on my model there are no original ones left :)

Well the thing with the head is, I haven't figured out if I am even going to include the original head, I imagine I'll need more empty space on the inside if I'm going to do yard hair plugs.
Oh I bet they were interesting! I already have one mostly sculpted, but I am doing the other one's base before I start on the finer details.
