A commission I did off-site, this one was for a customer of mine on my Etsy site. Etsy is a cool place for anyone who creates their own wares, be it art-prints, crochet, costumes or jewelry (their steampunk geekery section is awesome), as long as it's hand-made by you, a vintage piece or supplies to make something funky.
Anyway, had a person request a Dragonair tail and the little head-wings to go with it. :) Had to request an image, since I know squat about Pokemon critters. :P
Anyway, I may have to make a small alteration to the tail, since Dragonair's blue spheres should be closer to the tip, which means I'm going to have to snip off about three inches of tail and sew the tip closed. No biggie, just annoyed that I made what could be a deal-breaking mistake.
I airbrushed out my messy workroom from the modeling pic. :P

Full suit, or partial? A partial: head, feet-paws, sleeves and/or hand-paws and a tail would probably run about $350 total, the head being $200 of that. A full suit with the wings and other architectural details (if it's your Lucca character) about $1200 (I'm still starting out, so I'm costing pretty low). Let me know what character it is, and whether you want cartoony style, more realistic style, follow-me eyes, or plain flat, or duct-sight (mesh you see through below the eyes near the tear-ducts and coloured to blend with the area, so they can be placed at a more realistic width for animal characters).
*chuckles* Understand, too, that I'm a short, little fireplug of a female: only 5' 3". Now put a48-50 inch round butt on that with a 38" waist. I'm just over 200lbs, so I'm not exactly small. I'm guessing that I'd probably only reach to your shoulder at full height, if you were about 5' 10".
I can see that happening. I had a similar experience with my brother: I hadn't seen him since was about ten (I left home at 16) and I see him for the first time in almost ten years: he'd filled out, was now 5' 6", had facial hair, his mane was past his shoulders, and he no longer had a certain distinctive cheek-mole (was removed a couple years before)- I didn't recognize him, at first. He held a silly grudge on me for years after because he was so hurt that I didn't know who he was!
Awesome!
I still want a tail from you... it's just not going to be the one I talked to you about so long ago. I am very glad you can legally sell things here now though ^^ It's nice to know you don't have to worry about all that stuff.
Makes me wonder how hard things are going to be for me when I move up to Canada or how hard things will be when my love moves down to the States... depending on which way things go XD
Could you do a nice floofy leopard tail easily? I'm sure the spots would be killer X-x

The spots would probably have to be air-brushed, or even hand-painted, but if I can find a good, thick, richly-textured white fur, I could easily make one. Because of the hand-painting, it'll cost a little more than my usual $40 bucks. Is it a snow-leopard tail? Nice and long?
Yes ^^ Snow leopard tail! Nice and long :3 It'd be nice to have a nice bouncy curve near the bottom if that's even possible. Floof means heavy sometimes XP
I wouldn't regret the extra cash I'm sure. I'd have to get it together first though... as much as I'd like to have it now now now.

I have a sneaky way to ensure curve on tails without inserting wires or rod, so it should keep a good curve along it's length. I can make it extra curvy, so the weight of the fur hopefully won't make it drag too much. I usually ask $40 for a nice tail, add ten bucks to that, and I can start on it soon!
And I'm so fast on replies? Mehhh. *shrugs* *giggles* But yeah, note time. I'll need to know the measurement from your waist to your ankle, any special markings specific to your snow leopard and that's about it, really. Most folks will have a waist-to-ankle length of about one metre (roughly 39 inches), but some are shorter (mine is because I'm under 5' 4"). Average seems to be about 36" to 40". Basically, it's so I can plan the tail-length so it curls nicely at the end and doesn't drag on the floor.
*chuckles, not having a clue what you're talking about* I'm familiar with some of the more famous creatures like Charizard or Mewtwo and Pikachu, but that's about it. I'm too old to have gotten hooked by the Pokemon craze when it came out in the late '80's, early '90's... I was already on to novels and live-action Role-playing games. Heh. but I like making anything that's a challenge- and the spheres on that tail were a challenge.
Whut? Not intentional! O___O I'm serious when I say I forget stuff! I was never very involved with people in high-school, so I never got saturated with the "culture". Was too busy reading, drawing or running away from the bullies when tearing them to shreds failed (as it usually did).
-shrugs- I'm just messin'. x3
But I do feel like a boy amongst men because everyone here is soooo much older than meeee....uuuugh...and people keep sending me FA links that say "you are not allowed to view this image" and say "oh my bad. I thought you were older". >.<

Heh, you think so? Pissing-contest time! (joke) Ok, try this: I've made less than $2000 this year. O___O The long-distance relationship, having to quit the job, moving down to California from Manitoba... Kind of puts a crimp in the wallet. Seriously, I know what it's like not to have money- I've been homeless more than once- the first time, I was eleven.
But yeah, no money sucks the big one. But, If you're staying somewhere rent-free, that's pretty awesome, man. Either that, or I've somehow misinterpreted what you said. O___o I do that, on occasion.

I'm a tough critter, and nothing seems able to kill me. Heh. But yeah, it's been a rough, long haul, but I have my art, good friends, my love (KaniS) a new territory to explore and a new career. I'm going full-time on the art and costuming thing, and may end up making a decent living at it. Things look pretty sweet.
Ah! Cool! If you have enough material to do hands, I could quite easily sew something neat with them. Do you want "realistic" or "toony"? Hard claws (like the plastic claws you get a craft-stores, the good ones used for costumes), or toony stuffed ones (sewn of vinyl or other suitable fabric)? Either way, you're going to need about a 1/2 yard of contiguous fabric, if it's the same stuff on both palms and backs of the paws. If you're wanting another fabric on the palms, you'll still need a 1/2 yard, since I'd still have to cut the pieces on-grain and make sure I have enough to have good, strong seam-allowances. Will you want paw-pads? I have several shades of faux-suede with a little stretch that would make good paw-pads (black, silver-grey, dark grey, three different shades of brown and beige, pale blue, even purple).
Depending on how long ago it was that you'd ordered the fabric, the company may no longer have it in that specific dye-lot. They might not even have that style available anymore, either- companies change their available lines a LOT. Just a warning, if you decide to try getting more of that material that you might get the right pattern, but the colour may be off.
And, since you already have fabric (hopefully enough of it), making paws for you will be pretty cheap (I don't have to factor in materials cost). Would you be cool with paying $25? I'll only have to possibly buy claws and maybe thin sheets of foam for smooth "padding" on toony paws. It's for shaping.

Oh, and I forgot- do you know your glove size? A suggestion: if you do decide you want me to make these, trace out your hand onto a clean sheet of paper. Doesn't matter if there's stuff on the page, as long as the outline is clear. That way, I won't have to potentially waste material. Send it with the fabric you want me to use. If you don't know if you have enough, send me what you have, and I can try to match it in my trips to the Fashion District.
Note me, and we work things out from there?

Thank you! This was very much a learning experience- I hadn't made anything with a spheroid shape before, and I'd never made any kind of Pokemon/Digimon critter stuffs, either. >^^<
If you do want one, eventually, come pester me in about three months. I unfortunately have a queue I have to get through first, so I'm not taking commissions for a while. You might be still on my waiting-list for a bit, after that, though. *shrugs* The nature of being an artist who was silly enough to take on too many commissions at once and who is not exactly fast in making things.
