illogical asked me to draw this artwork based upon the "Hare of Inaba", a part of the "Kojiki", which is the oldest extant chronicle of Japan, written around 711AD, It says as follows:
"One day a hare wanted to cross the straight. In order to do so, he deceived some crocodiles* into making use of them as a land bridge. The hare let the crocodiles lie in a row accross the sea to hop accorss them. His intrigue seemed to have been going well though, coming to the end, he exclaimed that he has deceived the crocodiles. On hearing his word, the last crocodile attacked him, and ripped his fur off his body.
*Many scholras of the Japanese ancient literaures say that crocodile in this chronicle shall read "shark" because no crocodile lives in Japan.
