I meant that because in the original series,
- the captain, helm, and some other ket positions have the yellow/gold shirt
- scientists & doctors have the blue shirt
- (and for reference, the red shirt is for operations & security)
So I was mainly pointing out the fact he didn't have the right short color XD

Ah, well, the captain (at least, I assume that's the captain) joins in on page 3. I assume JC is still a science officer and merely had the conn for the night shift. Also there's the matter of Mr Spock, who, being both chief science officer and first officer, had the privilege of being able to wear either gold or his usual blue (if I recall correctly).
in every other Star Trek Series, your position defined your shirt colors (including the alternate timeline of the 3 most recent movies), but the original series didn't have the same rule, it would vary depending on the person. but for Spock, he was first and foremost a science officer, his Second Officer thing came second, hence the still blue shirt. as for Kirk, he was trained to be a commanding officer, hence the fact he doesn't wear any other colors. and as for JC, I did assume he was captain, but you're right, he's not because the actual captain comes in in page 3
